As citizens of Lynn may or may not know, a Rental Property Inspection Ordinance was passed in 2020 which the city is now trying to enforce. It requires anyone living in a multi family home to register their property as a rental even if it is not currently being used as a rental property.
This is harmful to families who own multi family homes so they may live together in a multi generational atmosphere to love and support one another.
The City of Boston also as a Rental Property Inspection Ordinance, however their ordinance provides an exemption specifically towards owner occupied dwellings containing fewer than six units. I ask, why was such an exemption not provided for in the City of Lynn Rental Property Inspection Ordinance?
Please help us urge the City of Lynn to amend their Rental Property Inspection Ordinance to exempt owner occupied dwellings containing fewer than 6 units. This ordinance should be aimed at absentee landlords and rental property management companies. Not multiple generations of a family living under one roof.
