FYI to current or former tenants in buildings managed by Greystar, including 2 in Lynn: 34 Munroe St (aka "The Caldwell") and "The Shipwright" (the absurdly expensive new apartments next to Walmart).

A Massachusetts federal judge has partially granted class certification for a class of renters that sued a Greystar entity and an East Boston building owner over allegedly unfair eviction legal fees.

Last month, Swampscott based landlord Carson Shore made a Lynn mom and her kids homeless in a needless eviction that was as illegal as it was immoral. The family that was thrown out of their home includes a six month old infant.

We are glad to report that the family is now in the process of moving back into their apartment; they fought back in court, and a judge ordered the eviction to be reversed.

Lynn United for Change supported the tenant in understanding and defending her rights, but the victory in court is thanks to great work by a Northeast Legal Aid attorney & other allies in the legal world. And the family would still be homeless if another tenant who volunteers with LUC had not connected them with assistance.

These photos are from last week. The eviction movers left a disgusting mess behind, so Lynn United for Change volunteers came to clean up and help the family reclaim their home. Thanks to Ward Six City Councilor Fred Hogan for coming by to lend a hand.

We're backing Ed Markey for US Senate because he is the real progressive candidate.

Just one example: back in 2018, Ed Markey joined grassroots groups to call for ICE to be abolished. At the time, his opponent Seth Moulton said that "the answer is to reform ICE." Last year, Moulton even voted for a resolution that included an expression of "gratitude" to ICE for its work "defending the homeland." In 2026, Moulton is finally calling for ICE to be abolished... now that he's running for office and that position has become politically popular.

Markey is more ready to speak up for human rights and challenge the power of corporations and oligarchs. He's more progressive and more of a leader on environmental justice, worker rights, the genocide against Palestinian people in Gaza, trans rights, and many other issues.

[Update: we are glad to report there is progress on the demand for a stop to Lynn Police cooperation with "peaceful transfers" to ICE. More info to come. The protest will continue: we still need an end to the court system's collaboration with ICE!]
