Parkview Services was proud to be at yesterday’s bill signing with Governor Bob Ferguson for SB 5938.

Our Director of Homeownership, Loretta Cael, and Director of Community Engagement, Zachary St. John, were honored to be in the room as this important legislation was signed into law.

SB 5938 strengthens Washington’s foreclosure prevention system and helps ensure homeowners have access to the support they need to stay in their homes. This work matters, especially as more households face financial pressure and housing instability.

Thank you to Senator Tina Orwall for leading this thoughtful and practical legislation, and to the many partners and advocates who helped move it forward.

This is how we build a stronger, more stable housing system for everyone in our state.

Washington State is exploring the creation of a Department of Housing, and your input can help shape what that looks like.

The Washington State Department of Commerce has opened a public survey to gather real experiences with housing across our state. This is not just for housing professionals. They are looking to hear from all Washingtonians about the challenges and realities of finding and keeping stable housing.

The survey takes about 15 minutes and responses are anonymous. Feedback will help inform recommendations to the Governor and Legislature about how a future Department of Housing could support housing supply and stability statewide.

Please take a moment to share your experience and help spread the word.

Survey closes April 26.

Last month, Parkview Services Executive Director Marc Cote joined fellow housing providers for a member-led Coffee with City of Seattle Councilmembers Mark Solomon Lin and Bob Kettle.

The conversation brought together nonprofit housing providers, service organizations, and developers to talk candidly about the challenges facing affordable housing in Seattle. The discussion focused on budget priorities, tenant–landlord policies affecting affordable housing, and ways the city can continue streamlining development so more homes can be built.

We are grateful to the Housing Development Consortium for convening these conversations and creating space for members to speak directly with city leadership. These discussions help move ideas forward and keep the focus on solutions.

Three cheers for Tim!

Tim has been part of the Parkview family for nearly 20 years, supporting residents in our Supported Living and Group Home programs, and showing up for years as a Camp Parkview volunteer. Yesterday, we caught a photo of him doing what he’s done for decades, dropping off two longtime residents with care and consistency.

Tim is heading into a new chapter and a new career. We are grateful for the steady presence, sweetness, and commitment he brought to our community.

Parkview is proud to be a place where people do not just have jobs. They build careers. That longevity is a reflection of the residents we serve, the coworkers who support one another, and a community that believes this work matters.

Thank you, Tim. You will always be part of the Parkview story.

Interested in cooperative homeownership for adults with I/DDs?
Parkview Services, in partnership with Northwest Cooperative Development Center, is hosting a series of information sessions for our Home Together Cooperative Homeownership program, a limited equity co-op model funded by the Kuni Foundation.

A limited equity co-op keeps homes permanently affordable by limiting resale prices, while still offering the stability, dignity, and benefits of homeownership.

These sessions are a chance to explore whether cooperative housing could be a good fit for you or a family member. We’ll walk through how co-op homeownership works, timelines to move-in, and key details, with time for questions. Each session shares the same information.

📍 Spokane-area sessions
• Saturday, January 10 at 1:00 PM
Central Library, 906 W Main Ave
• Saturday, February 14 at 2:00 PM

This model is designed to create stable, affordable homeownership opportunities specifically for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Please help us share this opportunity with families, self-advocates, and community partners.
