The final map for the 24th Congressional District. I'd like to introduce myself to folks in Cayuga, Oswego, Seneca, Wyoming, and Yates counties which are now fully within the District.

I'm a graduate of the USAF Academy with Cum Laude Honors, earning a Bachelors in Astronautical Engineering and later a Masters in Computer Science. I'm a former Air Force pilot, software engineer, business owner, and yes, civil rights activist.

Let me first say, I’m disappointed by the 'Political Musical Chairs' in our District. Mr. Jacobs moves his campaign to the Southern Tier and is replaced by Ms. Tenney from Utica – all within a 24 hr period. Let’s take back local control of Congress. This is now a safe Republican district, whoever you choose in the primary, will most likely go to Congress.

Signature gathering has long been a part of initiative politics and I need your help to carry petitions and get 1000 signatures by June 7th to ensure my spot on the primary ballot. Yes, you can really make a difference in Congress. Every person that helps has a huge impact in making the goal reachable. I'm concerned about where our Country is heading. We need people who can do more than 'talk' or just 'hate', but also 'listen'. Those who have demonstrated they'll stand up for their beliefs and can engage in civil discourse. Divisiveness worries me: between political parties, between family members and friends, intolerance, and desires to limit free speech. These are not good trends for our country.

I don’t approve of all the words President Trump used in describing his opponents. But I fully supported his policy regarding our economy, taxes, our Southern border, being pro-life, a strong military, and making our NATO allies pay their fair share for defense. I value actions more than nice words.

OHMANN THEATER HOSTS MEET THE LYONS CANDIDATES FOR CONGRESS

The historic Ohmann Theater in Lyons will host two local residents for US Congress this Wednesday, March 23rd, at 7 pm. The Republican candidates are Mr. Robert Groom and Mr. John Murtari. Each will have an opportunity to speak and then take questions from the audience. Mr. Dan Olsen, Lyons Republican Chairperson, will act as moderator.

Both need 1,250 petition signatures to appear on a primary ballot for a vote on June 28th. The 24th Congressional District was recently redrawn and now stretches from the Thousand Islands to Niagara Falls. There are three other candidates: Mr. Mario Fratto of Geneva, Mr. Andrew McCarthy of Olean, and an incumbent Member of Congress, Mr. Chris Jacobs from Buffalo.

The Lyons Candidates hope the event on Wednesday will allow them to hear concerns from local residents, answer questions, and excite some local support from within Wayne County. As a well funded incumbent, Mr. Jacobs was endorsed by many county committees across the district.

Gathering petition signatures is a manual door-to-door process, without significant party support, both Lyons men must rely on volunteers to help. The deadline for submitting petitions to the State Board of Elections is Thursday, April 7th.

Cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev, the Soyuz commander, was asked about the colors during a hatch-opening ceremony webcast by Russia's federal space agency Roscosmos. He responded (in Russian) that there was a surplus of yellow fabric in the warehouse!

Nice Crew! They may never fly again, but took a big risk to make their point.

I'm not a politican, don't have a voting record, but I here's how I'd respond to Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

We can't tolerate the actions of dictators: Putin in Russia and Xi in China. Yes, we're not the world's police. We can't settle every small dispute between nations. But we can't allow major powers to invade neighbors. Why? See the little history lesson farther down in this posting on the lead-up to World War II. Total deaths over 50 million!

Every excuse used now to avoid a significant response, was used then -- how'd that work out for all involved? How do we act now?

- No, sending American combat forces. It could trigger a much larger conflict.

- Yes, isolating Russia from world trade, air travel, etc... as a pariah. Completely exclude them from SWIFT (international bank transactions).

You may have heard of 'tough' SWIFT sanctions, but they want to allow Russian energy exports (their main source of income) to continue. That would be a bit too painful for the businesses and people in other nations. We 'stand with you', but not too much. We don't want to 'feel your pain.'

THE LEAD-UP TO WORLD WAR II (I remember learning this in history class. Do your kids know it now?)

March 1933 - Hi**er is voted as Dictator of Germany. Dachau, the first concentration camp is completed (first populated by homeless, alcoholics). Germans are told to boycott Jewish businesses.

September 1935 - Nuremberg Laws in N**i Germany - providing the legal framework for the systematic persecution of Jews.

March 1936 - German troops enter the Rhineland, violating prior treaty. Public opinion in Britain/France oppose any armed response.

August 1936 - Hi**er hosts the Summer Olympics in Berlin. France, Britain, and the United States send teams. Not a single nation boycotts the games.

March 1938 - Hi**er forces Austria to become part of Germany.

Sep 1938 - France and Britain agree to appease Hi**er, allow him to annex the Sudetenland, part of Czechoslovakia. Chamberlain, British Prime Minister, states, "I believe it is peace for our time"

March 1939 - Germany begins conquest of remaining Czechoslovakia.

Sep 1939 - Germany/Russia invade Poland - official start of World War 2

Apr 1940 - Hi**er controls Denmark/Norway

June 1940 - Hi**er controls Netherlands, Belgium, France surrenders

June 1940 - Winston Churchill becomes British Prime Minister
- Many in Britain feel they stand no chance against the N**is.
- He refuses to negotiate a peace treaty. Inspires the public. Carries on the war alone.

July 1940 - Hi**er starts air assault on Great Britain

1939 - Dec 1941 : Strong anti war movement in United States, lend/lease to Britain.

December 1941 - After Pearl Harbor, America finally enters the war against Germany.
