On August 31, 2026, Officer Wolfgang Bail and Officer Alexis Wolfe officially joined the Lyons Police Department as full-time officers!

We’re excited to have both of them on board and look forward to the experience, dedication, and positive impact they will bring to our department and our community.

Public Information Release
Search Warrant related to burglary investigation

On September 1st, 2026, members of the Lyons Police Department, with assistance of the McPherson County Special Response Team (SRT) executed a Search Warrant in the 100 block of South Lincoln, in Marquette, Kansas, as part of an on-going investigation of a burglary that occurred in a residence in Lyons.

During the ex*****on of the Search Warrant, one individual was arrested and booked into the Rice County Jail for burglary. The second individual was located later in the evening and was also arrested and booked into the Rice County Jail for burglary.

The investigation remains on-going.

The Lyons Police Department would like to thank the McPherson County Sheriff's Office and McPherson KS Police Department for their assistance with the investigation and ex*****on of the Search Warrant.

All persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Lyons Police Department administrative office will be closed tomorrow morning for staff training. We will be re-opened at 1:00pm. For emergencies, please call 911 and an officer will respond.

See below regarding construction on Grand Avenue between Taylor to Main Street.

🚧 A little road work is coming to South Grand! Here’s what drivers need to know:

Resurfacing work will take place on South Grand Avenue from Main Street to Taylor Street over the next few weeks. Travel will be reduced to one lane in each direction while the work is underway, and drivers can expect construction activity and possible delays in the area.

Please slow down, use extra caution, and watch for workers and equipment while traveling through the work zone. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our streets!

Lyons Police Department Saturation Patrol
Public Information Release

On Friday, August 21st, 2026, the Lyons Police Department, with assistance from the Rice County Sheriff's Office, Great Bend Police Department, Barton County Sheriff's Office, Kansas Highway Patrol, and Sterling Police Department, conducted a multi-agency saturation patrol within the City of Lyons.

Throughout the operation, officers made sixty-four contacts, resulting in six arrests and one vehicle pursuit.

The Lyons Police Department would like to express our sincere appreciation to our partnering agencies for their assistance, professionalism, and continued partnership.
