Museum of Wayne County History

Museum of Wayne County History Founded in 1946 as a nonprofit to preserve and share local history. We love local history! We are open to the public from mid-March to mid-December.

We are located in the old Wayne County Sheriff's family residence, office and county jail with 100s of cool local artifacts from 100s of years ago. Off season we are open by appointment. Our business office is staffed year round. Please call or email us anytime. Happy History Hunting and Fishing!

🎟️NEW RAFFLE ALERT!🎟️

Purchase Raffle Tickets for a chance to win ONE of these items. The Lyons Pottery Crock was made by Jacob Fisher, Lyons circa 1880. The Bicentennial Rocking Chair was created in 1976 to celebrate America's 200th anniversay. You could also win a House's Beverages Box full of mystery Historical goodies!

There will be three drawings, one for each item. Each ticket purchased will correlate to a physical ticket that will be recorded on a log and entered into the "fish bowl" containing all tickets. Each ticket will be uniform in size and color.

Need NOT be present to win. Tickets will be pulled at the annual meeting in October and are $10/ticket.

Proceeds benefit Wayne County History Museum, Educational Programming.

The canal created an opportunity for communication, travel and commerce that changed the geography and social culture of the region forever.
Join in on the conversation with Buffalo Maritime Center's, Dr. John Montague along with canal enthusiasts and "hoggee" descendants from the Comstock family in a community conversation to discuss the historic and current day connections to people and places that were, and are still being forged along the canal.
