An historical marker has been erected outside the childhood home of Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger, who in 1865 informed enslaved people in Texas that they were free.

We are still in an Air Quality Alert, issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the New York State Department of Health. At this time, our air quality is VERY UNHEALTHY. People with lung or heart disease, older adults, children, and teens should avoid physical activities outdoors.

Everyone else should:
• Avoid strenuous outdoor activity
• Keep outdoor activities short
• Consider moving physical activities indoors or reschedule them

In addition, Wayne County Public Health recommends that anyone having to work outdoors to wear a facemask. There are smoke particle in the air that can be breathed in. Wearing a mask will help filter these particles out.

Due to railroad construction, Lake Ave in Williamson will be closed all week to traffic, at the tracks. A detour is posted.
