At least 60% of every dollar paid to Altamaha EMC goes directly toward the cost of wholesale power—the electricity we purchase, then deliver to homes and businesses across the local communities we serve. The remaining portion helps cover equipment maintenance, essential system upgrades and the dedicated team that helps keep the lights on 24/7.

As a not-for-profit electric co-op, our focus is on providing safe, reliable and affordable electricity to our members.

One of the best ways to protect yourself from online scams is by using strong passwords. While many people focus on complexity—adding symbols, numbers and capital letters—password length is equally important. A longer password or passphrase is harder for cybercriminals to crack. Create memorable phrases made up of several unrelated words, and avoid using personal information like birthdays or pet names. Use a unique password for each account and enable multi-factor authentication when possible.

Internet Service Outage

We currently have 13 customers in the Minter area without internet service due to an outage that began at 6:42 AM this morning.

Our crews have confirmed the outage was caused by intentional vandalism after someone deliberately cut our fiber lines near the intersection of Rockledge Road and Highway 29.

This type of damage doesn't just affect our network. It disrupts essential communication services for our neighbors, families, businesses, and those who rely on internet access for work, school, healthcare, and emergency communications.

Our crews are on site and working as quickly as possible to repair the damage and restore service. We expect repairs to take several hours, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.

If you saw anything suspicious in the area or have any information that could help identify those responsible, please contact us at 912-526-8181 or the Laurens County Sheriff's Department at 478-272-1522.

We appreciate our community's support as we work to restore service and hold those responsible accountable.
