Today was Opening Day at the 169th Wayne County Fair!

This year's fair theme is "Red, White, & Bloom," as we celebrate America's 250th birthday! While you're there, be sure to check out our new 9/11 Memorial Vehicle, which pays tribute to the 25th anniversary of September 11th next month and honors the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the sacrifice we will never forget.

Stop by our booth in Floral Hall, say hello, and check out some of the new and exciting things we have to share this year. We always enjoy visiting with members of our community and being a part of this great Wayne County tradition. We'll see you at the Fair!

That’s a wrap on Summer Camp! ☀️

On Saturday, we officially wrapped up this years New York State Sheriffs' Institute & Summer Camp. Over the course of two separate weeks, we were proud to send 23 children from Wayne County to experience everything summer camp has to offer.

Throughout the week, the campers enjoyed making new friends, trying new activities, building confidence, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. From all the smiles and stories we heard on the ride home, it’s safe to say they had an amazing time!

We are grateful to be part of a program that gives local children the opportunity to enjoy a true summer camp experience, regardless of financial circumstances.

Thank you to everyone who helps make this program possible each year. We can’t wait to do it all again next summer! 🌲🏕️💛

This week, Sheriff Milby attended the New York State Sheriff’s Association Summer Training Conference in Fairport, where he presented a $14,710 check to the New York State Sheriff’s Institute. Those funds will support the Sheriff Ron Spike Wellness Center, which will be located at the Sheriff’s Summer Camp, on beautiful Keuka Lake.

The Wellness Center will serve first responders from September through May with a dedicated space for health, wellness, education, and peer support programs designated to benefit those who serve our communities. The donation was made possible through funds raised over the past two years by members of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office through our summer camp donation program, as well as a $2,500 donation from the Palmyra Moose Riders Club.
