The Sheriff’s Office has received several complaints concerning various types of telephone scams. Scammers calling citizens and pretending to be an employee of the Sheriff’s Office are the most common scams we receive complaints about. The scammer will usually say that you have missed some type of court appearance, and or that you have a warrant for your arrest. If you receive a call and the conversation begins with the above information, please disconnect the phone call immediately. IT IS A SCAM. Law enforcement will never call you by phone about a fine, warrant, or court appearance. Please like and share this post to help us reach as many people as possible. Additionally, please make family and friends aware of this information. Help us to keep someone from becoming a victim of these scams. Thank you.

UPDATE: Roadway is now open for traffic.

🚨🚨 Please avoid the area of HWY 297 and Northland Drive. A log truck lost its load of wood on the highway. We will provide an update when the road is clear. Thank you

The Vidalia Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual pictured. He is a person of interest in an ongoing theft investigation.

Today, we would like to recognize Officer Corneshia Corouthers’ 3rd year of service with the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office. Corneshia started her career as a Detention Officer in the Jail Division in 2023. Due to her hard work and commitment, she has become an asset to the agency. Thank you, Officer Corouthers, for your continued dedication to the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of our county.

Today, we would like to recognize Sergeant Tina Bryant’s 3rd year of service with the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office. Tina began serving as a Jail Officer in 2023. She has since been promoted to Sergeant in the Jail Division. We proudly serve and support Tina as she continues to grow with us in her law enforcement career!
