The Rice County Public Works Department oversees road & bridge, Lyons-Rice County Airport, and the Rice County Landfill.

The Rice County Landfill will be closed Friday July 3rd in observance of Independence Day. They will be open Saturday July 4th, normal hours 9-3.

The Rice County Landfill will be closed Friday June 19th in observance of Juneteenth Day. They will be open Saturday the 20th, normal hours 9-3.

REMINDER!! HHW is this Saturday at the landfill starts at 9:00 am.

Rice County will be holding their annual HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE Event on Saturday MAY 9th. It will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Rice County Landfill.
The landfill is located approximately 2 miles west of Lyons on Hwy. 56 (1380 US Hwy 56). The drive is located on the South side of the highway. Stop at the guard shack and you will be directed on where to go.
The gate will not be opened until 9:00 AM. Please DO NOT pull up to the gate prior to 9:00 AM because room is limited. We do not want vehicles to be sitting along the highway.

The Rice County landfill will be open Friday April 3rd (Good Friday) from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday April 4th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
