On Wednesday, the City of Lyons had the privilege of visiting Chicken of the Sea, and we would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and outstanding hospitality shown during our visit.

We are also grateful to the Toombs County Development Authority for facilitating the tour, coordinating the event, and extending invitations to local officials and community members.

The opportunity to tour the facility and learn more about Chicken of the Sea’s operations was both informative and valuable. We sincerely appreciate the time and effort invested in sharing industry insights, operational practices, and the company’s vision for continued growth and success.

Experiences such as these help foster stronger partnerships, encourage collaboration, and support continued economic development throughout our community and region.

The City of Lyons appreciates the opportunity to continue strengthening this partnership and looks forward to future opportunities to work together for the benefit of our community.

The City Hall team thought it was only appropriate to decorate the sign one more time to celebrate sweet summertime and all the fun that comes with it.

🇺🇸 In observance of Memorial Day, our office will be closed on Monday, May 25th as we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country…

We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday… Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend..!!! ❤️🤍💙

Effective immediately, the Open Burning Ban issued by the City of Lyons on April 21, 2026 has been lifted. The extremely dangerous fire conditions previously present in our area have been minimized by recent rains.

Although the strict open burning ban has been lifted, the City urges everyone to exercise extreme caution while using fire. The City of Lyons further wishes to remind citizens that residents who have an active water meter can take advantage of the City's Yard Debris and Mixed Materials pickup program.

For more information, please refer to www.lyonsga.gov under the services tab for more information. This service is intended to offer an alternative to the burning of yard debris that is more friendly to your neighbors, especially those affected by poor air quality and smoke.

All citizens are encouraged to use the City's debris removal service during this emergency ban.

Be reminded: burning the following materials is strictly illegal at any time of year, and violations will not be tolerated.

• Grease and Asphalt products
• Petroleum products and hazardous wastes
• Furniture and mattresses
• Building and demolition debris
• Animal wastes or carcasses
