We're disappointed but wanted you to know that the Lights Off Lyons Event planned for tonight to overlap a bit with the Perseid Meteor Shower is cancelled due to cloud coverage expected through the evening. If we are able to reschedule we will try to, there are several moving parts. Thank you for understanding.

✨ Reach for the stars at the 6th Annual Lights Off Lyons! 🌟

Do you have a future astronaut, astronomer, or curious space explorer in your family? Or maybe its you? This is the perfect night to discover the wonders of the night sky together, in tandem with the Perseid meteor shower.

On Friday, August 14, join the Lyons community as we dim the lights and look up. Explore Bohn Park after dark while viewing planets, stars, and constellations through telescopes with the help of local scientists, astronomers, and dark sky enthusiasts. Bring your own telescope or enjoy looking through the many others that will be set up throughout the park.

We are currently working with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office and Colorado Parks and Wildlife on how to best address our new friends. Please check out these great tips for safety! A relocation effort may be our best bet, for their safety as much as ours. If you encounter a bear, please contact https://cpw.state.co.us/contact-us so that CPW can send a wildlife officer out to investigate.

Join us for the 6th Annual Lights Off Lyons, a community gathering to encourage residents and businesses to go low lights or no lights on Friday, Aug 14th and explore the planets, stars, and more with telescopes, local scientists and the community.

The evening starts at Bohn Park to Explore Bohn Park in the Dark! Residents are encouraged to bring telescopes to Bohn Park, and/or join the excitement to learn about our dark skies, the stars and planets. There will be other telescopes brought by local star and planet and dark sky enthusiasts!

Enjoy a night walk, local star guides, live music and family activities. Bring your telescope or view through other scopes.
