COURTESY POST
Diggy Hill Rescue, San Antonio, TX

We evaluated this handsome boy Atlas. He unfortunately does not have any toy drive when in a new location with enticing smells and not a fit for our program. However he’s extremely food motivated, even in the face of distractions. Confident in new places, recovers quickly when startled, and friendly when meeting strangers. He had no concerns about an air horn, just showed curiosity, has had no noise or storm phobias at home. Atlas is a neutered 1yr old shepherd mix and though he isn’t a candidate for us, he may be a potential service dog candidate or is an excellent candidate as an adventure or running partner.

Atlas tolerated having his feet, ears, tail, and muzzle messed with by a stranger. He is very polite about taking treats. Please message the page and we will give you contact information for his current foster.

K9 Olive joined us from San Antonio Humane Society after they recognized she showed a lot of drive and might need a job. Olive is now training with Texas A&M Task Force 1 to become a USAR live find canine. We couldn’t do this work without amazing rescue partners like SAHS.

If you know of a young dog at your local shelter or rescue that is confident, social, and completely obsessed with dog toys please consider screening them for search potential.

Shelter to Search pup Uno is starting to really understand the search game! This handsome boy is training for Urban Search and Rescue with Texas A&M Task Force 1. Once he’s certified, Uno will help find trapped and missing people after disasters.

If you know of a young dog (9 months to 2yrs old) at a shelter near you that may have the toy drive and confidence to become a USAR K9, you can find details on how to screen them on our website here: https://www.cat5k9.org/screen-a-dog
