Starting Monday, February 9, Jr. High car rider pickup and drop off will look different due to the main entrance road being closed.
Morning drop off and afternoon pick up will enter through the west entrance next to the snow cone stand. Drivers will proceed past the new construction wing, turn right, and students will be dropped off in the mornings and picked up in the afternoon along the competition gym.
Staff will be out there assisting with the new route until everyone gets into a routine.

Please plan a few extra minutes that first week and be patient as we get this transition smoothed out. Thank you for helping us keep things safe and moving.

Edit to add:
If you are dropping kids off at the daycare, you are required to turn left out of the daycare. If you are dropping off at southside elementary, you are required to turn right out of the school.
Just a reminder that Paschall Blvd is a one way from 7:30am-8:30am and 3:30pm-4:30pm. With this being said, if you are dropping a kiddo off at southside or the daycare across the street, you are required to turn right leaving the school. The safety of our staff and students is our number one priority and we would love your help in this matter!

Celebrating the Life of K9 Officer Badger

This past week, our hearts have been heavy as we mourned the loss of our beloved Mabank ISD K9 Officer, Badger. Today, I want to shift that focus from mourning to celebrating the incredible life he lived—and the impact he made on our district, our students, and my family.

Badger wasn’t just a K9 officer—he was a story of second chances. He was a rescue dog, labeled as aggressive and scheduled to be euthanized. But thanks to my friends at Sector K9, that label didn’t define him. They saw what others didn’t: a loyal, driven, and loving partner. Wes at Sector K9 gave me a call and said, “I’ve got the perfect dog for you and your district.” When he told me Badger was a pit bull, I’ll admit—I had my doubts. I had never owned a pit before and had only heard the negative stereotypes.

But one visit changed everything.

From the moment I met him, I knew he was special. He wasn’t aggressive—he was sweet, affectionate, and let’s just say, a little needy. And honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I was a little nervous about bringing him into a home with other dogs, but Badger fit in like he’d always belonged. Now, I find myself wondering how they’ll do without him.

He had a job to do, and he did it with pride. But Badger wasn’t just a working dog—he was family. He had a gift for connecting with people and, let’s be real, he definitely had a way with the ladies.

Thank you, Badger, for everything you gave us. For your service. For your love. And for proving that second chances can lead to something truly special. You’ll always be a part of the Mabank ISD family—and a part of mine.

Rest easy, buddy.
