Mabank Fire Department Press Release
Over the past several days, the Mabank Fire Department has been overwhelmed by the incredible outpouring of support following the loss of our Fire Chief/Fire Marshal, Charlie Woodard.
We would like to sincerely thank our community, neighboring fire departments, first responders, friends, and everyone who has reached out to support us and the Woodard family during this difficult time.
We would also like to express a special thank you to Mayor Randy Teague, the Texas Line of Duty Death Task Force, the surrounding fire and police departments, Mabank Police Department, Dustin Conner, City management, City Hall staff, the Parks Department, and the Public Works Department for the assistance, coordination, and support they provided throughout this difficult week. Your efforts helped ensure that Chief Woodard was honored in a manner worthy of his service to this community.
Thank you to everyone who has kept us in your prayers, brought food and refreshments to the station, placed flowers and other meaningful items at Chief Woodard's memorial, attended the candlelight memorial, and joined us in honoring Charlie at his funeral. The kindness and support shown by so many has been a tremendous source of comfort to our department and to Charlie's family.
Chief Woodard dedicated his life to serving the citizens of Mabank and the fire service. He led with integrity, compassion, and a genuine love for people. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, and his sense of humor and unmistakable laugh could brighten even the toughest day. His impact on this department and our community will not be forgotten.
As we continue serving the community Charlie loved, we ask that you keep the Woodard family and the members of the Mabank Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers as we learn to move forward without our Chief.
One of the best ways we can honor Charlie's legacy is by following the example he set every day. Be kind to one another. Help those in need. Take time for your family and friends. Treat people with respect, and don't forget to share a smile or a laugh.
Simply put, try to be a little more like Charlie.
