We read the "Runaway Pumpkin." This book tells about a huge pumpkin that is torn from the stem and rolls down the hill. There are several things talked about that Granny makes from pumpkins, pies, bread, and soup. The children colored a paper plate pumpkin and glued faces on it. Then they helped me get the yucky stuff out of a real pumpkin. I carved a face so we put a candle in it. After that they played with play-doh, blocks, puzzles, and other building toys.

Storytime today was all about SPIDERS! We read a science book that tells about Super Spiders! In it were several different spiders, garden spider, wolf spider, black widow, crab spiders, and spiders with babies on their backs. There was also a jumping spider. We learned the difference in a spider(arachnid) and an insect. Spiders have two body parts and eight legs and eight eyes. They smell and taste with the hairs on their legs. The children water colored a spider web and placed a spider in it. I also gave them a spider ring! After that they went fishing, built houses and barns and played with puzzles.
