Tonight your local Macclesfield Volunteers were dispatched to a vehicle accident inside of the town limits of Macclesfield.
Upon arrival fire units found a 2 vehicle motor vehicle accident blocking Green Street at S Railroad street.

Minor injuries were reported and with Edgecombe County EMS transporting the injured to a local hospital for treatment.

We had 8 volunteers on scene along with 2 fire  apparatus 1301 and 1335.

We would like to thank members of the Bakertown fire department who pulled up on the wreck to assist.

NCSHP responded to handle the wreck investigation.

ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital-Training Announcement

"ECU Health Edgecombe will conduct a planned emergency preparedness exercise on August 25th as part of our ongoing commitment to patient safety and community readiness.

This exercise will simulate emergency response activities and involve collaboration with several local, regional, and public safety partners, including emergency management, EMS, fire, law enforcement, and other supporting agencies. Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel in and around the hospital during the exercise.

This is only a drill. There is no actual emergency, and normal patient care services will continue without interruption.

Exercises such as these provide an opportunity for healthcare and public safety organizations to strengthen coordination, evaluate response capabilities, and ensure readiness to serve our community during emergencies.

We appreciate the support and cooperation of our community and our participating partner agencies as we work together to enhance regional preparedness."

Late this evening August 24th 2026 around 11:48pm the Macclesfield Rural Vol. Fire Dept. responded to the intersection of US 258 South and Otter Creek Church Road for a reported vehicle accident.

Volunteers arrived to find a passenger vehicle overturned out of the roadway. There were three (3) occupants in the vehicle.

Two (2) of the occupants refused treatment on scene and the third was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

As a result of the accident a Pitt Green EMC power pole was broken. Pitt Green EMC responded and is currently working to fix the pole.

We had 9 members on scene with two trucks 1301 and 1335
Also on scene-North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office.

Tonight your local volunteers were dispatched to an electrical fire on 258 S. just south of Eagle store across from George’s Collards.arriving units found a large tree limb lying across the powerlines resting on top of a active transformer.

We had 6 members on scene along with a quick response from Edgecombe-Martin County EMC who worked quickly to fix the problem!

Update: Blinking Lights in the Pinetops/Macclesfield Area

We are aware of continued reports of blinking lights in the Pinetops and Macclesfield areas today and appreciate our members’ patience as we work to identify and resolve the issue.

Our Line Technicians have been actively investigating the area. Several issues have been located and repaired over the past few days, including the tree that caused Friday’s outage. However, we are continuing to investigate the cause of the recurring blinks.

Our crews are working to thoroughly check the lines and equipment in the area to determine what may be causing the continued interruptions. We understand how frustrating repeated blinks can be and appreciate your patience while our crews work to get this resolved.

We will provide another update when we have additional information. Thank you for your patience and understanding. 💡

⚡ 6:45 p.m. Update:
Crews have located a bad transformer that is being replaced, and we have also installed fault indicators along the line to help our crews isolate where the fault may be occurring.

Our crews have ridden and walked the line, checking every section of the area where the blinking has been occurring, and they will continue working until we can identify and correct the cause of the problem.

We know these repeated blinks have been frustrating, especially after several days of interruptions. We truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while our crews work to get this resolved. We will continue to provide updates as we have more information. 🙏⚡

Tonight August 1st, 2026 just after 9:00pm your local volunteers were dispatched to a down power line on NC 124 E about 1 mile from crisp. Arriving units found a down power line which sparked a small fire in the grass.
The cause of the down power line was due to a tree which partially fell onto the line.
Edgecombe Martin EMC arrived quickly on-scene and cut the power to the down powerline which in hand put the small fire out.

The Macclesfield Volunteer Fire Department responded to a mutual aid call for a residential structure fire on NC 111 South shortly after 7:00 pm. At dispatch, the homeowner confirmed flames were visible at the rear of the home. Volunteers arriving on scene found an active fire in the rear of the home and South Edgecombe engine 1401 quickly deployed two hose lines, executing a successful interior attack that knocked down the fire. Macclesfield 1301 established a primary water supply by deploying a 5-inch supply line from a hydrant located at the intersection of Drake Farm and NC 111 South, connecting it to South Edgecombe Engine 1401.
The incident prompted a large-scale response from multiple departments, including South Edgecombe VFD, Macclesfield VFD, Lewis Community VFD, and West Edgecombe VFD.
Macclesfield VFD had 11 personnel respond and utilized three fire apparatus: 1301, 1313, and 1335.
