Spirit of Macedonia returns June 19 & 20 with a hybrid drone show + fireworks, brought to you by Sohar's All Season Mower Service.

To ensure a high-quality experience and maintain manageable attendance for a city of our size, this event will be exclusive to the Nordonia-area residents, Mac Rec members, Nordonia School staff and their guests. Please show proof of residency, membership or school ID at the check-in area upon arrival. All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Today, we honor the memory of Patrolman Gary Paster on the 40th anniversary of his passing on May 29, 1986.

Patrolman Paster made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the Macedonia community. His dedication, courage, and commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten.

Please join us in remembering and honoring Patrolman Gary Paster and keeping his family, friends, and fellow officers in our thoughts.

Macedonia City Council will move to an alternate meeting schedule during the summer months. There will be no meeting tonight. City Council will meet on the following dates:
• Thursday, June 4, 2026
• Thursday, July 23, 2026
• Thursday, August 27, 2026
All council meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and are open to the public. They are held in Council Chambers on the first floor of the Macedonia City Center.

The Spirit of Macedonia 5K Race returns Saturday, June 20, at 9 a.m. at Longwood Park.

Participants can choose between a chip-timed 5K Run for $30 or a 1-Mile Walk for $25. Registration for both events increases by $5 on race day. The Kids Fun Run is free.

Sponsored by Hudec Dental, awards will be presented to the Top 5 Men and Top 5 Women in the 5K, and free t-shirts will be available for the first 200 participants registered for the 5K or 1-Mile Walk.

The course features a mix of paved and wooded trails throughout Longwood Park.

If you're interested in the early days of Cleveland television and how they helped shape comedy and entertainment on a national stage, you won’t want to miss this special event that benefits Longwood Manor.

On Wednesday, June 3, at 7 p.m., authors Janice and Mike Olszewski will share never-before-seen footage, comedy outtakes, and stories from their upcoming book about three of Northeast Ohio’s most beloved personalities: Ernie “Ghoulardi” Anderson, Tim Conway, and Big Chuck Schodowski.

The presentation will feature long-lost films and classic performances these legendary entertainers whose work helped define Northeast Ohio television history.

Admission is free. Donations are welcome and benefit the restoration of Longwood Manor, Macedonia’s only building on the National Register of Historic Places, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

City of Macedonia offices will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. Trash and recycling pickup by Kimble will be delayed by one day this week.

Join us this Memorial Day as the Nordonia Hills community comes together to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day Events – Monday, May 25

⭐ The VFW Post 6768 Memorial Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. The parade starts at St. Barnabas, travels north on Olde Eight Road, and ends at Northfield Macedonia Cemetery. Be sure to look for our Macedonia Fire and Police Departments along the route and give them a wave!

🔴 Parade participants: Please enter from the south St. Barnabas entrance (at the bottom of the rosary path). Staging personnel will direct parking and lineup locations.

⭐ Memorial service at Northfield Macedonia Cemetery at 11 a.m. following the parade.

🔵 At 1:30 p.m., all are invited to Veterans Memorial Park in Macedonia for a Memorial Day ceremony hosted by American Legion Post 801 to honor our fallen heroes. Parking is available at the Girl Scout headquarters.

⭐ The VFW will also host an open house at 8584 Olde Eight Road in Northfield with a free luncheon served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Emergency Assistance Center will be accepting donations during the open house.
