...Wet Weather on the Way, Especially Thursday-Friday Night...

An especially wet period of weather is in store after one more dry/warm day on Tuesday. Rain looks to move in either Thursday or Thursday night and continue into Friday or Friday night. While there is still uncertainty on the starting and ending time of the rain, it is likely many places will get quite a bit of rain. Most places Downeast will get over 1" of rain, and some places may top 2". In the north, we are looking at a bit less, with at least 1/2" rain most places and perhaps over 1" of rain. We don't expect the rain to be enough to lead to flooding.

⛈Some thunderstorms moving through Downeast! Anticipated to last through roughly 8pm. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! ⛈

Each year in April and May, we enter a period of increased wildfire activity in Maine and have days of elevated fire danger. Dry grasses and leaf litter, higher temperatures, lower relative humidity, and winds that can easily reach the forest floor all combine to create the conditions for Maine's spring wildfire season. In April 2025, Maine experienced 193 wildfires, burning 177 acres. All of those fires were caused by human activities, and more than a third were related to debris and open burning.

You can do your part by checking the daily fire danger rating before burning (https://mainefireweather.org/), always getting a permit when burning debris, and being careful with all potential ignition sources (campfires, fireworks, welding, etc.). Free burn permits can be obtained through the state’s online burn permit system (https://apps1.web.maine.gov/burnpermit/public/index.html).

Maine Forest Rangers remind the public to keep all fires small and manageable. Never leave a fire unattended and be sure your fire is properly extinguished before leaving the area. Please contact your local authorities if you have any questions prior to having outdoor fires.

Good Morning,

Dry into Friday with moderating temperatures. Highs start out around 5-10 degrees below normal, increase to around 5 degrees above normal on Thursday, then rise to 5-10 degrees above normal on Friday, with temperatures ranging from the mid 40s near the coast to around 60 across central Maine.

Rain is likely Friday night as a cold front pushes through the region. Waves of low pressure riding northeast along the front help to produce light rain over the region Friday night.

🚧 MACHIAS D**E CLOSURE BEGINS APRIL 1 (NO FOOLIN'!)

The Maine Department of Transportation will begin work to replace the current Mabey bridge with a longer-lasting temporary bridge structure starting Wednesday, April 1.

The D**e will be closed through April 30 while this work is completed. Please plan your travel accordingly and allow extra time for the detours.

🏪AND ONE IMPORTANT ASK: Please continue to support your local businesses during the closure. If you can, make a point to visit your usual spots and help keep our downtown and surrounding businesses strong during this time.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as this important work moves forward!

Good Monday afternoon,

Tonight will be partly cloudy with lows from near 20 over the far north to the mid 30s along the coast.

Some occasional rain Downeast, sleet in central areas, and snow north is expected on Tuesday. Steadier snow north, and sleet and freezing rain in central areas, will then overspread the area Tuesday night and continue into Wednesday. This will likely result in hazardous travel Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Colder air will begin to press back into the area Wednesday evening possibly resulting in some icy roads.

Another weather system at the end of the week will spread snow, sleet and freezing rain across the area Thursday evening. Precipitation will turn to rain Downeast and continue into Friday.
