**About Us**

🍏 Good Food Pantry, a program of Western Illinois Regional Council & Community Action Agency, helps eligible people with lower incomes who live in McDonough County, Illinois, with food. We empower our customers to choose the food items they want from the options in our "store" (where everything is free).

⏰ The pantry is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 - 5:00 PM (closed on holidays).

Macomb Fire Department Installing No-Cost Smoke Alarms in Conjunction with Statewide Campaign
October 18-24 Macomb, IL – In a collaborative effort with the nonprofit Camp I Am Me and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM), the Macomb Fire Department will be installing no-cost smoke alarms for residents of Macomb as part of the Be Alarmed! Smoke Alarm Installation Program. This initiative provides smoke alarms and fire safety materials to Illinois fire departments to both educate the public and equip homes with life-saving devices.
The Statewide Smoke Alarm Installation Blitz campaign, scheduled for October 18–24, unites fire departments across Illinois to promote fire prevention and ensure homes are equipped with properly functioning smoke alarms. As part of Fire Prevention Month, the Macomb Fire Department will be installing 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms to improve home safety and protect families in the community.
Along with smoke alarm installation, the program also educates families on how to develop and practice home fire escape plans, giving residents the knowledge they need to act quickly and safely in the event of a fire.
“Our primary goal is to ensure all residents have the lifesaving protection of a smoke alarm,” explains Chief Meyer. “While alarms are critical, they are just one part of the equation. Knowing how to respond in an emergency is just as important.”

Registration closes October 27 for the Macomb Mental Health First Aid for Agricultural Communities training.

When someone is struggling, a supportive conversation can be an important first step. This training helps participants recognize signs of mental health challenges and learn how to offer support and connect people with resources.

Looking to make a difference for families in our community? Help us support our diaper drive! We will be collecting diapers, pull-ups, adult briefs, and feminine products.

Donations may be dropped off at Medical Group of Macomb, Rowland Sullivan Wealth Management Partners, or IPI Wealth Management, October 15-30th.

Rotarians will also be at Hy-Vee on Sunday, October 25, collecting donations in support of the diaper drive from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Reminder: Western Illinois University will be having its 2026 Homecoming Parade on Saturday October 24, 2026. Although the parade begins at 10:30AM, many road closures on and around the parade route will take effect much earlier. Please avoid the area if possible. The courthouse will be open for early voting. Please use the West entrance of the courthouse square to access the courthouse.

The City of Macomb announced today that Friday October 30, and Saturday October 31 have been designated as the dates for City-wide door-to-door Trick or Treating. The hours have been set for 6:00PM to 8:30PM, both evenings.

Residents wishing to participate should have their exterior light on, which will not only indicate their willingness to greet and treat “ghouls and goblins” but provide an added measure of safety as well. Trick or treating activity should be limited to ages (12) and under.

Parents are asked to accompany youngsters to ensure safety when crossing streets and encourage them to wear reflective clothing if possible. Motorists are encouraged to be extra vigilant as many neighborhoods will be filled with pedestrians focusing on treats.
