The elevator in the Courthouse will be out of service for SIX WEEKS, beginning Monday, August 24, 2026.

If you are unable to use the stairs, you have a couple of options to pay your taxes or pet registration.

1. Use the SILVER dropbox outside the Courthouse on the South side. We check it everyday. Please put your money, tax stub, or your pet's rabies certificate in an envelope and seal it.

2. Pay your property/mobile home taxes and pet registration online at https://payments.municipay.com/il_mcdonough/search. Just select which fee you are paying in the dropdown menu. There is a 2.5% fee for using a credit or debit card. If you pay by ACH (online check), there is a flat $1.50 fee.

3. You can pay by phone by calling 1-309-328-8125 and follow the prompts.

4. Payments may be made by mail to:
County Treasurer, #1 Courthouse Sq., Macomb, IL 61455. Be sure to have them postmarked before September 14.

The second half of real estate property taxes are due on Sept 14, which will coincide with the elevator replacement project. We did not know the elevator would be down when we set due dates. We realize this is an inconvenience and apologize. Please make arrangements to have someone bring your taxes to the office or utilize one of the methods above.

If you have questions, please call 309-833-2032.

A Friendly Back-to-School Traffic Reminder

With the new school year beginning next week, please remember that our morning and afternoon traffic patterns are about to change!

You’ll see more school buses on the roads, more cars coming and going from our schools, and more students walking or biking. Please give yourself a little extra time, slow down, stay alert, and keep your head on a swivel—especially around schools and bus stops.

A few extra minutes and a little extra attention can make a big difference.

Let’s work together to keep our students, families, staff, and community safe as we start another school year!
