Police Called to Domestic Incident in Good Hope
Suspect Surrounded by Police, Building on Fire
At approximately 10:15 a.m. today, the McDonough County Sheriff's Office was called to a home at 400 N. Monmouth St. in Good Hope for a domestic violence report.
According to McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout, a woman who was covered with blood was seen exiting the building, and passersby called for help. The Good Hope Fire and Rescue Squad responded, and the female was airlifted to OSF in Peoria. The male suspect was seen re-entering the structure, and shortly after, started a fire inside.
"At this time, the subject is believed to still be inside the residence," Petitgout said.
Joining the McDonough County Sheriff's Department are the Illinois State Police tactical team and ISP Zone 4. The Bushnell, Blandinsville and Good Hope fire departments are also on the scene, and drone support was provided by the Western Illinois University GIS Center.
After obtaining a search warrant, the ISP tactical team forced entry into the residence. The situation remains ongoing. The Community News Brief will continue to follow this story and post updates as they become available.
