It's Tax Season! Bills have been sent out! The bill will look a bit different this year. The images in this post outline what you are seeing on the bill and some important information about due dates, using USPS to mail your payment, and how to pay online. Please read the information on the back of the bill carefully. There is important information that has not been on it before.
Fair warning: this post is long but important!!
If you want to view your bill before it arrives in the mail, please visit https://mcdonoughil.devnetwedge.com/. This is free and available to you 24/7.
If you need a bill printed by our office, there is a $1 per page fee.
You can pay one of five ways:
1. In person - Treasurer's Office, first floor of the Courthouse. We accept cash, check, money order, cashier's check, and credit/debit cards.
2. By check in the SILVER drop box outside the Courthouse on the South side. Please do not leave cash in the drop box. Be sure to include your payment stub with your payment.
3. Online at payments.municipay.com/il_mcdonough/search. Credit, debit, and ACH are accepted online.
4. At your local bank. Banks that accept payments are Clock Tower Community Bank (both branches in Macomb), Farmers and Merchants State Bank (both branches in Bushnell), First Bankers Trust, Fortress Bank, Land of Lincoln Credit Union in Colchester, MidAmerica Bank (both branches), Raritan State Bank in Bushnell, State Bank of Industry, and United Community Banks (Macomb, Bushnell, and Colchester)
5. USPS - We honor postmarks, BUT effective Dec. 24, 2025, mail is postmarked when PROCESSED, not when dropped off. USPS recommends you take items to a Post Office counter and request a hand-stamp for the correct date or send several days before the deadline! Please include your payment stub with your payment and we advise that you do not send cash through the mail.
Due date reminders will not be sent via mail. If you want reminders, please sign up for our texting service. Put MCDTREASURER into the body of the message and 80946 in the "To: box" to get tax updates and pet registration updates. These texts go to everyone signed up. We cannot filter whether you own property or own a cat or dog. If they do not pertain to you, please ignore.
Finally, please be patient with us - we are a small staff and if we are helping people in the office, we may not be able to answer the phone. We do have voicemail so feel free to leave us a message and we will get back to you!
