The Arc Macon

The Arc Macon Turning developmental disability into possibility since 1953. Come achieve with us! We also offer participation in Special Olympics and a week at Summer Camp.

The Arc Macon (formerly known as Advocacy Resource Center, Inc. – Macon) is a local 501(c)3 organization which supports adults with developmental disabilities, including Autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral palsy, among others. Founded in 1953 by a group of committed parents seeking to answer the needs of their developmentally disabled children, The Arc Macon continues to support adults with develo

pmental disabilities through residential living options, supported employment and meaningful activities. The purpose of The Arc is to provide adults with developmental disabilities the life skills and an environment to live as independently as possible. Currently we provide the over 70 individuals we serve with living amenities in one of our 15 residential homes or apartments, access to jobs in local businesses, and meaningful activities. Our vision is to see all individuals we serve with developmental disabilities engage and contribute to their community in meaningful ways through competitive integrated employment, developing relationships, skill development, advocacy, and education.

This is urgent.

At The Arc Macon, we see every day what happens when people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are ready for services—but stuck waiting.

Right now, Georgia has the opportunity to fund 1,217 new NOW/COMP waivers. These waivers mean access to support, independence, employment, and community. They mean relief for families who have been waiting—sometimes for years.

The State Senate has included $21 million in the budget to make this happen. Now the House must agree.

This is where we need you.

📞 Call these three key legislators and tell them to KEEP the $21 million for NOW/COMP waivers in the budget.

Your voice matters. Your call matters. And for the people we serve, this moment matters.

Act NOW to get more waivers!

Georgia could get 1,217 new NOW/COMP waivers in the state budget, but nothing is final yet! The state Senate wants to add this money and now the House has to agree.

Sometimes the most powerful change starts with one person sharing their story.

Across Georgia, parents, self-advocates, and allies are lending their voices to help shape the next steps. Maybe it’s a story about finding support when it mattered most or learning to advocate for your child in a new way.

Your story can help another family feel seen.

Help support our artists and donate your old frames

Got old frames collecting dust? Give them a new purpose!

We’re looking for frames for our Creative Pathways Fellows, artists with disabilities who are preparing to showcase their work in our community! Most of our pieces are 8x10, 9x12, or 11x14, but we’ll gladly take any size to help bring our art to life.

Your donated frames will help our artists present their work beautifully and find its forever home.

📍 Drop off at Artspace Macon. Message us to arrange pickup. ✨

Established in 1986, St. Andrews Montessori School was the first Montessori school in Bibb County and remains the only Montessori program in Georgia to hold Gold Level MEPI Accreditation. Serving children from 18 months through 5th grade, this vibrant community nurtures curiosity, independence, and a love of learning in about 70 students each year.

As a mission of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, the school embraces a diverse population across five Georgia counties and partners with The ARC Macon to provide resource services for children with disabilities. St. Andrews also supports future educators as an internship site for teachers pursuing Montessori training—continuing its legacy of service and authentic Montessori practice.
