FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On July 4, between approximately 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., several altercations occurred outside the Bee Hive Café on Constantine Street in Shuqualak, Mississippi. During one of the incidents, multiple shots were fired.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that an altercation involving Brendasha Bryant and Sherika Yates resulted in Ms. Bryant sustaining a gunshot wound to her upper right arm. Based on the evidence gathered and statements obtained during the investigation, investigators established probable cause, and a warrant has been issued for Sherika Yates for the charge of Aggravated Assault.

At this time, Ms. Yates has not been arrested. Investigators have reason to believe she has left the State of Mississippi and may be in Omaha, Nebraska.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Sherika Yates or any information related to this investigation is encouraged to contact the Noxubee County Sheriff's Department or submit an anonymous tip through their local Crime Stoppers program using the P3 Tips app.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional arrests may be made. The Noxubee County Sheriff's Department will continue working with the District Attorney's Office and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate and apprehend all individuals wanted in connection with this case, whether they are inside or outside the State of Mississippi.

The Noxubee County Sheriff Office is currently investigating two reported burglaries of buildings that that occurred on Fairfield Road in Macon, Mississippi on June 17, 2026. During these incidents, various items were taken.

GOOD MORNING ..

The Noxubee County Sheriff Department recovered a stolen vehicle that was parked behind an abandoned mobile home on Macon Lynn Creek Road. A concerned citizen called about a suspicious vehicle. After an investigation by The Noxubee County Sheriff’s Department it was determined that the vehicle was stolen from OKTIBBEHA County Police Dept. and they were notified per Supervisor Triplett.

Noxubee County Sheriff Tedrick Liddell would like to make citizens aware of potential inclement weather expected over the coming days. Weather conditions may continue through the weekend and could extend into Monday and Tuesday, depending on how the system moves.

Please understand that high call volumes are expected, and hazardous road conditions may delay response times. We ask for your patience as our dispatchers, deputies, and first responders work diligently to serve our community.

City and County Law Enforcement WILL remain available to respond to emergency calls throughout this period.

We strongly encourage all residents to:

-Stay off the roads if weather conditions worsen

-Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and those who may be vulnerable

-Prepare now by securing necessities and staying informed

-Do your part as responsible citizens to help keep yourself and others safe

If travel is not necessary, please stay home. Your cooperation helps keep first responders safe and allows us to assist those in critical need.

From Sheriff Tedrick Liddell – Noxubee County

The Noxubee County Sheriff’s Department would like to acknowledge the tragic events that recently occurred in West Point, Mississippi. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families, loved ones, and everyone affected by this devastating situation. We ask our community to join us in praying for comfort, strength, and healing for all involved.

Tragedies like this remind us how important it is to address domestic violence and mental health awareness. These issues impact families and communities everywhere, and it is vital that we look out for one another, speak up when something isn’t right, and seek help when it is needed.

We encourage our citizens to do their part to help keep Noxubee County safe by choosing peace, supporting one another, and always doing the right thing. All lives matter, and we hope each person understands that their life has value and purpose.
