This incident highlights the ongoing risk of field and grass fires due to persistent dry conditions. The South Macon Fire Protection District urges residents and farmers to refrain from open burning and to exercise caution when operating equipment or discarding smoking materials outdoors. This fire resulted from accidental farm equipment overheating.
⚠️ The South Macon Fire Protection District remains under a burn ban at this time. ⚠️
We appreciate the response efforts of South Wheatland Fire, Blue Mound Fire, and Mt. Zion Fire.
Special thanks to Macon County Dispatch (CIRDC) for their assistance in managing the situation and providing necessary resources.
We also extend our gratitude to Jason Beard of Macon Speedway for his valuable contributions.
