After 10 days away helping restore power, we’re welcoming our guys home! A big thank-you to Nick Stueve, Ben Williams, Jackson Wood, and Cody McKenzie for answering the call and representing Macon Electric Cooperative.

They worked alongside Southern Pine Electric Cooperative in Brewton, Alabama, to assist with restoration efforts. Southern Pine had over 100 Missouri linemen lend a hand, serving as a powerful reminder of the cooperative spirit and the way electric co-ops come together when communities need help.

To our linemen and their families, thank you for the sacrifices you make. We’re proud of our guys and grateful for everyone working to get the lights back on! ⚡💪

This past week/weekend, nine of our linemen traveled to Overland Park, Kansas, to compete in the International Lineman’s Rodeo, joining fellow lineworkers from across the country to showcase their skills, knowledge, and dedication to the trade.

We’re proud of our guys for representing Macon Electric Cooperative and for the hard work, teamwork, and commitment to safety they bring to the job every day. Thank you for all you do to keep the lights on for our members! 💪⚡

🤝 Co-ops helping co-ops.

Whether it's sharing resources, responding after major storms, participating in statewide programs, or working together to strengthen our communities, electric cooperatives understand we're stronger when we work together.

Did you know electric cooperatives operate according to seven cooperative principles?

They include democratic member control, education and training, cooperation among cooperatives, and concern for community. These principles have guided cooperatives for generations and continue to shape how MEC serves our members today.

One of the best things about a cooperative? Decisions are made close to home. ❤️

MEC is governed by a locally elected Board of Directors who are members of the cooperative themselves. They live, work, farm, raise families, and participate in the same communities we serve.

Local power. Local leadership. Lasting impact.

Ben Williams is a 2011 graduate of State Tech- Electrical Distribution Systems. He works as a lead lineman for Macon Electric Cooperative.

"State Tech equipped me with tools and climbing gear and taught me to use them. They also introduced to me the hazards of the job, job expectations, and prepared me for the culture of the industry. Most importantly they required an internship that got my name and work ethic introduced to the industry that eventually led to my full-time employment.”

🏡 Concern for Community is one of the seven cooperative principles—and it’s one we’re especially proud of.

From youth programs and scholarships to safety education, economic development, and community partnerships, our commitment goes beyond delivering electricity. When our communities succeed, our cooperative succeeds.

You hear us say we're a member-owned cooperative; but what does that actually mean? Unlike investor-owned utilities, MEC exists to serve our members, not outside shareholders. Our members elect local representatives to our Board of Directors, and the needs of the communities we serve help guide the decisions we make.

That’s the cooperative difference. 🤝
