Mercer Law School Career Services

Mercer Law School Career Services Welcome to the official Mercer Law School Career Services page. We are here to assist Mercer Law stu Founded in 1873, the Walter F. Senator.

George School of Law of Mercer University is one of the oldest law schools in the United States and the first one in the state of Georgia accredited by the American Bar Association. The Law School is named after Walter F. George, a 1901 Mercer Law School graduate who became a justice of the Georgia State Supreme Court and later a U.S. Mercer Law is located in Macon, Georgia, about 80 miles south o

f Atlanta. The Law School’s current building is on Coleman Hill, a well-known landmark on the Macon skyline. The 90,000-square-foot facility is modeled after Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA., the location where the Declaration of Independence was debated, adopted and signed. Mercer Law School has earned a reputation as an excellent provider of legal education with an intense focus on student and faculty interaction. Its educational philosophy is based on a commitment to ensure that Mercer graduates develop problem-solving, counseling, and trial and appellate advocacy skills, and acquire the legal knowledge to become exceptional practicing attorneys in a supportive and professional environment. After a $15 million gift from George W. Woodruff, the Law School initiated an innovative curriculum that reinforced its commitment to small classes and professional skills-oriented approach to legal education. As a result, the Woodruff Curriculum has long been viewed as a model for law schools across America, earning the Gambrell Professionalism Award from the ABA for its “depth and excellence of the Woodruff Curriculum and its commitment to professionalism”, as well as other awards for service and professional skills proficiency. With an enrollment of about 440 students, Mercer Law School is one of 11 schools and colleges of Mercer University, which has been listed among the top institutions of higher education in the nation. Mercer Law School is also home of the National Criminal Defense College, the Legal Writing Institute, and The Journal of Southern Legal History, and is nationally recognized for its exceptional programs in legal writing, moot court, public service, and professionalism and ethics.

I am pleased to announce that Mercer has tied for second place for the ABA Competitions Championship for 2021-2022! Schools earn points by participating in the ABA Competitions for arbitration, client counseling, national appellate advocacy, and negotiation.
The ABA has created this award to recognize law schools that go above and beyond to help prepare their students for practice. Success in these competitions illustrate Mercer’s commitment to providing a well-rounded curriculum and preparing students to become highly skilled lawyers.
This is the first time Mercer has been ranked. Second in the country is an amazing accomplishment and credit goes out to our fabulous students- please join me in congratulating them!

If you are a student with a degree (or at least two years of coursework) in engineering, computer sciences or the hard sciences (chemistry, biology, physics, or related fields), and are interested in becoming a Patent Agent or Attorney, Practising Law Institute (PLI) invites you to an online presentation by Mark Dighton, PLI's Director of Law School Relations and Administrative Director of their Patent Office Exam Course. Topics for discussion include:
• The latest info on the Patent Office Exam,
• Who can take it,
• How it works (it's on computer and “on demand”),
• When you should take it (you don't need to…and probably shouldn't…wait until you graduate), and
• Recommendations on when and how to study for this very difficult Exam.

Scholarships to PLI's other IP programs will also be discussed.

Just sign up for ONE of the presentations below. (All five talks are the same.)

Georgia IP Month Starts Today by Proclamation of Governor Kemp!

Governor Kemp signed a proclamation declaring October as Intellectual Property Month for the fourth consecutive year! Governor Kemp’s declaration helps build awareness of intellectual property across the state of Georgia and recognizes the ongoing efforts of GIPA (Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance) and its Ecosystem Constituents to improve access to the IP Ecosystem for the benefit of our citizens.

The group hosted their first event in honor of IP Month yesterday.
