Our dear friend and CCMI’s previous counselor, Mr. Don Wilkinson, passed away this week. Mr. Don cared immensely about recovery, healing, and transformation. As we grieve, we also recognize the lasting impact of his presence for those that he walked with and who were his friends.

While his service information is posted below, we’d love to share the gifts that Mr. Don gave through his life. So leave a comment, share with a friend, and tell us a story or a memory of Mr. Don’s presence in your life with us.

On this hot, muggy June morning, these folks worked diligently (without AC) to completely overhaul and organize our ReCycle Macon storage closet.

Thanks to these friends from Bike Walk Macon, Bike Tech Macon, local cycling groups, and from the CCMI transitional house.

We are so grateful for the support from these partners that help us all care for our neighbors!

What if everything you needed was already in your community?

Our Buy Nothing Yard Sale reminded us that generosity is abundant when people come together. Through shared resources and open hearts, families found useful items, meaningful connections, and a welcoming community.

A message to the community:

“Parting is such sweet sorrow..” - words I never really fully understood until now! It’s hard to put into words what an honor it has been to serve in this space, to be trusted with this work, and to share in the life of this community. After almost 5 years together, I’m officially stepping down from my role as Executive Director at Centenary Community Ministries, Inc. in order to take a full time position working for El Refugio, an organization dedicated to advocating and supporting families navigating the challenges of immigration in Georgia.

Over the years, I’ve experienced so much love and warmth from this community. You embraced my husband and I, welcoming us with open arms. I will take the stories of beauty, resilience, and growth that I’ve collected with me everywhere I go! This role has shaped me deeply and it’s been such a gift- so much so, that it’s been hard to let go! (I’m technically off payroll but I keep showing up. Joan even asked me the other day, “so… when is your last day??”)

While it’s time for a new chapter, I’m excited for the transitions we get to look forward to. CCMI received a $160,000 grant this year to fund our programs and strengthen our support for those navigating addiction. This also gave us the funds we needed to hire a Case Manger to take on role of supporting our guys.

I’m excited to introduce you to Phillip Boyd, a Certified Addiction Specialist who brings over 30 years of Substance Abuse Counseling to us including building hospital programming at Piedmont with our beloved former counselor, Don Wilkinson. Phillip will be a great addition to the team and I sincerely look forward to the growth CCMI has in store. We also continue to be led by our staff members like Tripp Talley (Peer Specialist), Dennis Hasty (House Manger), James Smith (House Coordinator), Laura Pounds (Financial Administrator) and our admin assistant, Joan Cabral. If you have any additional support needs, you can reach out to Pastor Sara Pugh Montgomery or our fabulous board of directors in the interim.
