🎨 Turning Trash into Art! ♻️

Huge thanks to Tanglewood Art Studios for having us at last Saturday’s Trash Walk + Drawing Workshop with the amazing Artist and Art Educator, Adrienne Berkland!

Participants spent the morning making a real difference:
🚮 Cleaning up our local streets
🧐 Analyzing their unique finds
✏️ Transforming litter into beautiful drawings
It was an incredible, inspiring day, and fun was had by all!

Thanks to the collaboration between Heart of Georgia, Georgia Power volunteers, and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), we were able to take our cleanup efforts indoors at the Bloomfield-Gilead Recreation Center. Due to the extreme heat, we pivoted from our original plans, and student-athletes and coaches from several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) stepped up to help. Together, they cleaned and organized multiple rooms throughout the recreation center, making a meaningful impact on the facility and the community it serves.

A special thank you to the student-athletes and coaches from Central State University, Lane College, Tuskegee University, Savannah State University, Edward Waters University, and Clark Atlanta University for their hard work, flexibility, and commitment to service. Their willingness to adapt and lend a helping hand helped make this project a success and demonstrated the true spirit of teamwork, leadership, and community engagement.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, members of Fall Line Church gathered in the Village Green neighborhood of the Bloomfield Community for Good Neighbor Saturday. From picking up litter and cutting grass to distributing groceries, the church demonstrated what it truly means to be a good neighbor and serve others with compassion and care. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this endeavor a success. Your willingness to serve has made a positive impact on the community and reflects the spirit of love and unity that strengthens our neighborhoods.

We are incredibly grateful to the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.,Epsilon Tau Zeta Chapter for their dedication and service to our community. Last Saturday morning, these outstanding women, along with several volunteers, braved the summer heat to conduct a campus and neighborhood cleanup at Ingram-Pye Elementary School in preparation for the upcoming school year.

Their efforts reflect the chapter's continued commitment to ensuring that Ingram-Pye students return to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Through their hard work and community dedication, Epsilon Tau Zeta Chapter is helping to create a cleaner, greener community for our students and community members.

We are excited about this partnership with Tanglewood Art Studios and Ryland Environmental, Inc.

How do you turn a crushed can into a painting? It starts with learning how to see.

Join Savannah artist Adrienne Berkland for a unique workshop that combines community stewardship, observation, and drawing. Inspired by the themes of her exhibition Crushed It, participants will begin by taking part in a neighborhood cleanup around Tanglewood Art Studios before returning to the studio to create artwork inspired by objects discovered along the way. We invite our Macon-Bibb community to join us in honoring the life and legacy of beloved educator and longtime Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful board member, Helen Weathers.
A Cherry Blossom tree will be dedicated in her memory on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Carolyn Crayton Park (near the train caboose).

Mrs. Weathers spent more than 40 years serving our community through education, volunteerism, and beautification. Her impact continues to inspire us all.
