1998 ALEXIS FIRE ENGINE FOR SALE – SEALED BID

The City of Macon, Missouri, is accepting sealed bids for the sale of a 1998 Alexis Fire Engine.

After more than 28 years of service, Engine 3 has officially been retired from the Macon Fire Department's fleet. For nearly three decades, Engine 3 answered countless calls, responded to emergencies, protected our community, and carried generations of Macon firefighters into service. It has been a dependable part of our department's history and will certainly be missed.

Taking its place is our new Engine 2, a 2026 E-ONE Rescue Pumper, which will provide our firefighters with modern equipment, capabilities, and ample storage to better serve the citizens of Macon for many years to come.

A project like this takes a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes. Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this new apparatus possible, from the City of Macon and City leadership to our firefighters who helped design, equip, and prepare the truck for service.

Thank you to E-ONE Fire Trucks (Official Site) and Banner Fire Equipment for their continued craftsmanship and service throughout this project, and, of course, thank you to our citizens for your continued support of the Macon Fire Department.

Engine 2 will begin its service to the City this week! 🚒

Weather permitting, as early as May 26, motorists will notice ramp work and intersection improvements beginning at the following locations in the City of Macon:
• Eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 off ramps at the U.S. 63 interchange - ramp improvement work with a 10-foot lane restriction will be in place where crews are actively working
• Intersection of U.S. 63, Bus. 36 and W. Briggs Drive - various closures can be expected, however one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Between the nighttime hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., work will occur in the right turn lanes with flaggers to direct traffic through the work zone.

City of Macon (Fire Department) to Bolster Fire Prevention Efforts with FM Grant

MACON, Mo.—The City of Macon (Fire Department) has received a $5,000 fire prevention grant from FM, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers.

The award will be used to assist with pre-incident planning to efficiently collect and track data related to local community buildings. The information will help the fire service respond in an emergency situation.

Because fire continues to be the leading cause of property damage worldwide, during the past 40 years FM has contributed millions of dollars in fire prevention grants to fire service organizations around the globe. Locally, the company has awarded grants to a number of Missouri-based organizations.

Through its Fire Prevention Grant Program, FM awards grants to fire departments—as well as national, state, regional, local and community organizations worldwide—that best demonstrate a need for funding, where dollars can have the most demonstrable impact on preventing fire, or mitigating the damage it can quickly cause.

Red Flag Warning in effect from 12 PM to 6 PM today region-wide. Afternoon conditions including strong wind gusts and low relative humidity will result in elevated fire weather conditions for this afternoon.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
