Let's Put On Our Thinking Caps or Hats!
Each year we celebrate Oscar Sorbel the young boy who rode into Madelia to alert the community of the Younger Brothers gang. The subsequent capture of these outlaws was a direct result of his quick and courageous actions.
In 1999 the Madelia Area Chamber announced the first Oscar Sorbel Hometown Hero Award as part of the Younger Brothers Event.
This year the award will be presented on Saturday, November 23rd during of new event, BeDAZZLED in the Park starting at 5:00 pm near the stone shelter.
This award is to honor an individual who has served the Madelia community by his or her outstanding volunteering activities. I know you know someone in our community you have thought about honoring!
This is your opportunity to add that special person as a nominee. To nominate someone, please pick up a form at the Madelia Times-Messenger office, Alliance Bank, City Hall, Pioneer Bank, or the Madelia Area Chamber office.
The form should be turned in no later than Monday, November 18th. You may leave the form at the Madelia Times-Messenger office, City Hall or at the Madelia Area Chamber Office or mail to Madelia Area Chamber, P. O. Box 127, Madelia MN 56062 or email to Michelle Van Hee at [email protected] or Karla Angus at chamber@madeliamn.
