🚧 NOTICE: NORTH CENTER AVE. ALLEY PATCHING TODAY 🚧

We were just informed that crews will be working this afternoon on patching the north business alley, as well as the alley between 1st Street NW and 2nd Street NW.

⚠️ Please use extra caution in these areas.

• The north business alley will be narrow while crews are working. Please use an alternate route if possible.
• The east entrance to the alley between 1st and 2nd Street NW will be blocked during the work.
• If you need to access the Madelia Public Library, please use the west entrance to the alley.

We apologize for the short notice. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews complete these necessary repairs.

Please slow down, use caution, and watch for workers and equipment. 🚧

School Zone Safety Reminder

In preparation for the start of the 2026–2027 school year, the school zone flashing signs have been activated.

The first day of school for St. Mary’s Catholic School is Wednesday, August 26, and school zone speed enforcement will begin at that time.

Please use the next few days to become familiar with seeing the flashing school zone signs again and remember to slow down when they are activated. With students returning to school, we ask everyone to stay alert, reduce their speed, and help keep children safe.

⚠️ Madelia Residents

Madelia residents, please be aware that a young man representing White Knight Pest Control has applied for a peddler’s permit in the City of Madelia, but his permit has NOT yet been approved. He may be traveling around town using a hoverboard.

If he comes to your door and you choose to answer:

👉 Ask to see proof of an approved peddler’s permit.
👉 If he cannot provide proof of an approved permit, please do not allow him to proceed and contact the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office-City of Madelia at 507-642-3246.
