Healing doesn’t always look like progress.

For some children, it looks like learning to trust again.
For others, it’s finding the words for what they feel.

Trauma can shape how a child sees the world but with support, patience, and safe spaces, healing is possible.

Be the adult who listens.
Be the one who believes in them.
Be the reason they feel safe again. 🌿

Mental health support is essential for children who have experienced trauma. Safe relationships, therapy, and being understanding can make a life-changing difference.

Today is National Denim Day, and we’re wearing denim to show our support for survivors of sexual assault 💙

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office stands with survivors and remains committed to raising awareness through prevention, education, and support. Together, we can make a difference by listening, supporting, and speaking out.

National Denim Day is an annual campaign that raises awareness about sexual assault and supports survivors.

It started after a 1990s court case in Italy where a r**e conviction was overturned because the judges argued the victim’s tight jeans implied consent. In response, people began wearing denim as a visible protest against victim-blaming and harmful myths about sexual violence.

04/30/2026

Today, our staff proudly participated in Denim Day to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and raise awareness about victim blaming.

Denim Day serves as a powerful reminder that there is never an excuse for assault and that survivors deserve to be heard, supported, and believed. By wearing denim, our team joined a global movement to challenge harmful misconceptions and promote a culture of respect and accountability.

We are proud to support this important cause and remain committed to fostering a safe, supportive community for all.

Thank you Oakhurst community for participating in Denim Day!
