Serving Madera County since 1893, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office protects unincorporated communities through Patrol, Investigations, Special Operations & Professional Standards while leading emergency response and coroner services countywide. Thurman, served from 1893 to 1895. Sheriff Tyson Pogue is the 15th Sheriff to serve Madera County. Sheriff Pogue is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer and

Chief Coroner of Madera County. He is responsible for providing public protection and investigating crimes that occur within the unincorporated areas of Madera County. The Madera County Sheriff’s Department is divided into four distinct and critical levels, all of which operate under the direction of Sheriff Pogue. Those sections are: the Valley Division, Mountain Division, Corrections Division, and Administrative Division which oversees the offices of records, dispatch, civil process and court security.

UPDATE ON THE ARREST OF HOMICIDE SUSPECT DAVID MORENO

UPDATE: SUSPECT DAVID MORENO HAS BEEN ARRESTED.

Madera County Sheriffs detectives were checking a possible address and observed the suspect leave in the same vehicle. We coordinated with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, and with the help of their air unit and ground patrol, a vehicle stop was co ducted on Mr. Moreno’s vehicle. He was arrested without incident at the location.

UPDATED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Suspect has been identified as 51 year old, David Moreno. He was last seen driving a white SUV similar to a RAV4 in an unknown direction. He should be considered armed and dangerous. If you any have information on his whereabouts, please don’t not approach him and call 9-1-1.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late this morning in the area of Avenue 18 1/2 and Golden State Boulevard.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., our Communications Center received multiple reports of a shooting. Deputies arrived and located a woman who had been shot multiple times.

Deputies immediately began life-saving measures until EMS personnel took over. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspect flee the area toward California State Route 99 in what was described as a small white SUV, similar to a RAV4.

Detectives have determined that this is a domestic violence related incident.

This remains an active homicide investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Madera County Sheriff’s detectives are currently serving a search warrant in the area of Lake Street and Clark Street in Madera. One person has been detained, and there is no immediate threat to the community. Please use caution in the area while law enforcement personnel are on scene.

Madera County Sheriff’s detectives are currently serving a search warrant in the area of Sharon Boulevard and Krohn Street in Madera. Four people have been detained, and there is no immediate threat to the community. Please use caution in the area while law enforcement personnel are on scene.
