As the Memorial Day holiday approaches, we here at the Madison Heights Police Department are reminding drivers of the importance of seat belt use. We will be working with our fellow law enforcement officers across the state in the annual campaign called Click It or Ticket. This high-visibility enforcement crackdown runs from May 18 to May 31, 2026. This national seat belt campaign runs concurrent with the start of the busy summer travel season to reduce traffic deaths and serious injuries. We cannot stress the importance of wearing a seat belt. It’s the law, but more than that buckling up is the simplest thing you can do to limit injury or save your life during a crash.

Don’t wait until “next time” to wear your seat belt: there might not be a next time. Buckle up now! https://www.michigan.gov/msp/divisions/ohsp/safety-programs/seat-belts
