🌟 Honored and Grateful 🌟

I’m honored to share that I’ve been awarded the Community Leadership Award by my peers at the Michigan Municipal Executive at the Winter Conference. This recognition is deeply meaningful because it reflects the collective efforts of the incredible team I have the privilege to work with every day in Madison Heights.

Leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about service, collaboration, and a commitment to making our communities better for everyone. I’m inspired daily by my colleagues, city staff, elected officials, and residents who share in this mission.

Thank you to my peers for this recognition. I’m more energized than ever to continue this important work.

🎓🎉 I’m excited to share that I’ve graduated from the Michigan Asset Management Champion program! It’s been an incredible program of learning, growth, and sharpening my skills to better serve our community.

One of the key takeaways I gained from this experience is the importance of clear communication with residents about the costs that come with maintaining our infrastructure. Being transparent about the true costs of maintenance and replacement, and sharing the real condition of our assets, is essential to building trust and understanding.

If you’re passionate about creating sustainable, well-maintained communities, I highly recommend signing up for this program and encouraging your team to participate as well. It’s a game-changer for anyone working in asset management, public works, or community development!

What's really frightening is in the U.S., food is the single most common material sent to landfills, comprising 24.1% of municipal solid waste and wasted food is responsible for 58% of landfill methane emissions.

So today Mr. Bones stopped over by the Department of Public Service to drop off the remnants of his lunch into our City's new food scrap composting. This pilot program In partnership with My Green Michigan offers residents 24/7 access to the marked bins in the north side parking lot outside the DPS building at 801 Ajax Dr.

By composting our food scraps and using the compost produced, we can return those nutrients and carbon to the soil to improve soil quality, support plant growth and build resilience in our local ecosystems and communities.

Did you know Pumpkins and Bones are among the list of allowed compostable materials? Don't worry Mr. Bones it's only food bones, not people...or plastic. Learn more about our Food Scraps Composting program including FAQs here: https://loom.ly/u6CMIsw

MADISON HEIGHTS — Earlier this month, the city of Madison Heights launched a program where residents can drop off food waste at the Department of Public Services so that it can be converted into compost — a nutrient-rich material used as fertilizer for plants.

What a great evening at Jimmy John’s Field with the Department Heads! ⚾️ Team-building, and community spirit were in full swing as we enjoyed a night of baseball and camaraderie. Events like these remind us that strong connections off the field lead to stronger teamwork on the field—whether we’re talking sports or city leadership. Grateful to be part of a team that’s committed to both service and having fun along the way!
