The Dean House

The Dean House Near Madison, WI preserving the history of Blooming Grove Township and the Dean House museum.

The mission of the Historic Blooming Grove Historical Society, established in 1971 is to:
*Preserve and promote the history of Blooming Grove township which includes the City of Monona and Madison's southeast side
*Restore, furnish and preserve the Nathaniel & Harriet Dean House as a center for local history research, and cultural events, as well as a testament to the pioneer spirit that brought p

eople to Blooming Grove Township in Dane County, Wisconsin. The Dean House was built in 1856 by Nathaniel & Harriet Dean on their then 508 acre farm in the Township of Blooming Grove. The Township of Blooming Grove will be completely annexed by the City of Madison in 2027. The home serves as a representation of a victorian farm house as well as a museum and historical site preserving the history of the Township of Blooming Grove. The newly refurbished 3-season Back Porch on The Dean House is available for rent. Rates and information are available on our website: www.historicbloominggrove.org.
