Boone County Schools 2026 Summer Professional Learning Opportunities

Boone County Schools is pleased to offer a variety of professional learning opportunities throughout Summer 2026. This summer's offerings include statewide conferences, leadership academies, specialized content training, instructional coaching opportunities, AP Summer Institute, English Learner professional learning, special education training, and new teacher induction programs.

Featured Opportunity: BCS Summer Teacher Academy
⭐ August 3-4, 2026 - Boone Career and Technical Center (BCTC)

The BCS Summer Teacher Academy is the premier professional learning event of the summer and is open to all professional staff and teacher aides. This two-day academy will provide targeted learning experiences tailored to both elementary and secondary educators, offering practical strategies, innovative instructional practices, and collaborative opportunities that can be immediately applied in the classroom.

Compensation
Professional Staff: $250 per day
Teacher Aides: Daily Rate
BCS Presenters: Two preparation days at $250 per day
Registration Deadline - June 12, 2026

In addition, Boone County Schools will host a Special Education Summer Teacher Academy on August 5-6, 2026.

Congratulations to Madison Middle School, which has been named a 2026 West Virginia PBIS Tier 1 Model School by the West Virginia Behavior/Mental Health Technical Assistance Center (WVBMHTAC)!

In collaboration with the West Virginia Autism Training Center at Marshall University and the West Virginia Department of Education, the WVBMHTAC oversees the state’s schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) project.

West Virginia PBIS Coordinator Alicia Ziman said, “The Model Schools initiative is an integral part of our project. Identifying Model Schools gives us the opportunity to showcase the work these schools have found to be effective. We also have the ability to share their experiences with schools across the state and with outside stakeholders. Model Schools can instill an excitement in others through their passion and dedication to the PBIS Framework that is hard to capture in any training alone.

“Madison Middle School, along with assistant principal Mrs. Caitlin Stewart and her PBIS team, exceeded our standards to be awarded this recognition again this year. Designated for multiple years, Madison Middle School continues to be a shining example of the Model Schools initiative. Their implementation of best practices, commitment to a multi-tiered system of support, and data-driven decision-making has made them a true model for PBIS Tier 1 practices.”

Madison Middle School students Violet Mitchell and Evelyn Tabor and Scott High School students Charley Kuhn and Ava Morris recently were recognized at Young Writers Day at the University of Charleston.

All four were winners at the county level and made it to the state level.
