Today, we celebrated an important milestone for the future of Milwaukee with the advancement of The Beacon.

This project is a powerful example of what’s possible when health care providers, community leaders, residents, and the City of Milwaukee come together around a shared vision. Through the partnership of Aurora Health Care, Community Smile Dental, and the Milwaukee community, The Beacon will expand access to quality health care and serve as an important resource for Milwaukee’s Near West Side and surrounding communities.

I’m proud to be part of this exciting chapter for our city and look forward to seeing The Beacon open its doors in Spring 2027.

Today, September 11th, we honor the lives forever changed by one of the darkest days in our nation’s history. I was grateful to attend the Milwaukee Fire Department’s 25th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony, where we honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice and recognized the families and first responders who continue to carry the weight of that loss.

Twenty-five years later, our entire country continues to live with the impact of that day. It is a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who answered the call, and of our responsibility to continue supporting the first responders who save lives every day.

We will never forget those we lost, and we will always honor those who answered the call.

Labor Day is about more than a parade. It’s about standing with the people who keep Wisconsin moving.

This morning, I proudly walked with my brothers and sisters of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), as I do every year, before joining working families and labor leaders at Labor Fest.

I believe a stronger Wisconsin starts with an economy where working people can afford to live, raise a family, buy a home, and build a future.

That means fighting for good-paying jobs, strong unions, affordable housing, quality public schools, paid family leave, and an economy that works for everyone.

My commitment to organized labor isn’t seasonal. I’ll continue bringing the voices of working people into the rooms where decisions are made and using my position to fight for policies that put working families first.

Because when working people are strong, Wisconsin is strong. And I intend to lead with that principle today, tomorrow, and throughout the work ahead.

Happy Labor Day. ✊🏾

Today, I joined Mayor Johnson, WHEDA, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, and Milwaukee’s housing leaders to celebrate a critical investment in the people and neighborhoods that make our city strong.

Through the 2025–2026 Community First Housing Counseling Resource Program, WHEDA and FHLBank Chicago are investing in Acts Housing, Housing Resources, Inc., and United Community Center. These organizations are helping Milwaukee residents prepare for homeownership, build financial stability, and secure a stronger future for their families.

Homeownership is more than a transaction. It is a pathway to economic opportunity and stability.

We must continue building a Wisconsin where every family has a fair shot at owning a piece of the community they call home.

Today was a powerful reminder of what it looks like when we invest in our people. The Clinton & Bernice Rose Senior Center is officially back open after a $4.1 million renovation, bringing expanded opportunities for wellness, learning, connection, and community to Milwaukee’s seniors.

Seeing the excitement on our elders’ faces was a blessing. They built this city, and they deserve spaces that reflect their dignity, their contributions, and their worth. When we invest in our seniors, we honor our past and strengthen Milwaukee’s future.

Congratulations to Kinship Community Food Center on breaking ground for your new center in the Sensational 16th Assembly District! I was proud to have my office present a legislative citation recognizing this incredible milestone and celebrating Kinship’s decades of service to our community.

Since the 1970s, Kinship has been a trusted resource for families across our community, ensuring neighbors have access to nutritious food, essential services, and the support they need to thrive. Health is wealth, and access to healthy food is a critical part of building stronger communities.

Today’s groundbreaking represents more than a new building. It is a continued investment in people and a commitment to ensuring every family has the opportunity to live healthier, more secure lives. Thank you to everyone at Kinship for your unwavering dedication to serving our community with compassion and dignity. Congratulations on this exciting next chapter!
