Truax Fire is on the scene! 🔥

Today, Dane County Regional Airport conducted its triennial exercise in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements.

The exercise provides airport, airline, and emergency response teams an opportunity to test communication, coordination, and response capabilities during a simulated airport emergency.

As the sole airport rescue and firefighting facility, Truax Field Fire Department firefighters were evaluated on aircraft response and firefighting capabilities as well as their ability to establish unified command. They also played an important role in this training by supporting the triage, treatment, and transport of injured personnel alongside mutual-aid partners.

Exercises like this help strengthen the coordination and readiness needed when seconds matter.

Did you know?

The 115th Fighter Wing’s mission goes beyond providing airpower. Our Airmen also maintain multiple capabilities to provide agile support during domestic operations.

From emergency response to disaster recovery, these alternate missions allow our Airmen to support communities when they need it most:
Fire & EMS
EOD - Explosive Ordnance Disposal
CERFP Medical - CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) Enhanced Response Force Package
FSRT - Fatality Search and Recovery Team
JISCC - Joint Incident Site Communications Capability
Security Forces
Debris Clearing Package

The mission may look different on the ground, but the goal remains the same.

THEN → NOW

Different jets. New generations of Airmen. Same mission.

From the F-16 to the F-35, aerial refueling remains a key part of fighter aviation, extending range, endurance, and mission capabilities without the need to land.

Thankfully, we have partners like the 128th Air Refueling Wing who have our backs. Whether it’s supporting day-to-day operations or answering the call when it matters most, tanker support helps keep our fighters ready to fly.

The 115th Fighter Wing will be conducting evening training flights Monday through Thursday this week, September 21 - 24, shifting our typical daytime flights to the evening, concluding at approximately 10:00 p.m. This training is required to ensure our Airmen's readiness to operate in all conditions, and we will continue to follow flight paths designed to minimize noise to area residents

Mission-ready in the Arctic ❄️

The 115th Fighter Wing took to the cold early at Pituffik Space Base, Greenland, as part of Operation ARCTIC VANGUARD.

Operations like this allow the 115th to build resiliency, strengthen operational capabilities, and maintain readiness where extreme conditions test both Airmen and aircraft. It also directly supports U.S. Northern Command's mandate to monitor, deter, and defend the northern approaches to the United States.

From Wisconsin to the Arctic, our Airmen are ready to operate wherever the mission takes them.

Always ready to climb to the top

115th Fighter Wing Airmen took to the ropes during a hands-on rescue training at Volk Field this past August.

The Air National Guard-hosted exercise “Patriot 26” brought together approximately 1,000 Airmen and Soldiers from National Guard units across 35 states, along with federal, state, and local agencies, to strengthen domestic response readiness and interagency coordination during large-scale emergencies.

Airmen who participated in the rope rescue training built their confidence in climbing and sharpened the skills needed to operate safely in elevated, challenging rescue environments.

When an emergency happens, we’re

See the impact of 9/11 on the Wisconsin National Guard through the eyes of members still serving their state and nation 25 years later...

Twenty-five years after Sept. 11, Wisconsin National Guard leaders reflect on air patrols, airport security and years of deployments.

Today, we pause to remember those we lost and those who answered the call on Sept. 11, 2001. The 115th Fighter Wing honors their legacy through every Airman who stands ready to defend our homeland 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Never forget.

What a weekend!

The 115th Fighter Wing was proud to take part in the Pistons and Props Airshow in Janesville this weekend, showcasing our F-35A Lightning II and connecting with the Wisconsin community.

From the skies to the ground, our Airmen had the opportunity to demonstrate what it means to be a mission-ready fighter wing, while meeting the people we’re proud to serve.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, watched the show, and supported the 115th Fighter Wing!
