Very Excited to have Boone County native Scotty Dunlap as our Banquet speaker! Scotty is a recognized author and is well recognized in the Fire service and Safety communities. He has mentored many into successful careers, some of which are fellow West Virginians. Scotty is the creator of the award winning "Frametown" documentary, which if you haven't watched is worth the view. Scotty Dunlap and Hair Supply both on Friday night - its gonna be fun!

West Virginia Public Service Training will be offering a WV Fire Fighter 1, Module 1 course at Morrisvale VFD (2508 Straight Fork Road, Alkol, WV 25501). Class will lead straight through Module 4.

We apologize for the short notice. This class is being pushed out so quickly to accommodate Junior Firefighters interested in taking the class allowing them to complete as many modules as possible before Fall 2024 School activities begin.

This 36.5-hour module course covers subjects such as: History of the Fire Service, Fire Fighter Safety, PPE/SCBA, Fire Service Communications, ICS, First Aid/CPR & HazMat Awareness.

Dates: June 29 & 30, July 6, 9, 12, 20, 21, 24 (other dates to be determined)

Times: 1700-2200 on weekdays and 0900-1900 on Saturdays and Sundays

Instructor: Hannah Ranson

Location: Morrisvale VFD (2508 Straight Fork Road, Alkol, WV 25501)

Tuition: $50/module per person

Book: $75

Supply Fee (if applicable): $100

PREREQUISTITES: REGISTRANTS MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OLD

This past week was the 30th annual West Virginia Coal Festival held in beautiful Madison, Boone County WV. Blackhawk Mining was gracious enough to paint this beautiful scoop in honor of some of the fallen hero’s of our wonderful state. Thank you Blackhawk Mining in honoring the first responders with such a wonderful and beautiful tribute.
