π EMTs: The Backbone of Our Communities π
Every day, EMTs stand ready to respondβwhether on duty or not. A recent story about Matthew Goldman of Tri-Boro Volunteer Ambulance Corps in Montvale NJ is a perfect example. While off duty, he witnessed a bus crash and immediately sprang into action, providing critical care before additional help arrived.
This is what we do. EMTs are woven into the fabric of our communities, always prepared to help in moments of crisis. Matthew's quick thinking and dedication remind us why EMS is so vital.
To all EMTs out thereβthank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment to saving lives. ππ
A Hometown Hero
Following the tragic accident yesterday, a hero emerged. A courageous young man, who had been driving behind the bus on the Parkway on his way home, was the first to pull over and immediately began assisting the children in exiting the overturned bus. Someone then informed him that there was a boy trapped underneath the bus.
Edited: Without hesitation, Matt applied his EMT experience to help the boys and until additional help arrived.
Matt has been an EMT with Tri-Boro Volunteer Ambulance Corps for nearly six years, starting his journey as a sophomore in high school at just 16 years old. Matt always knew he wanted to work in healthcare and was motivated to get involved in the community. TBVAC inspired Matt to pursue a career in nursing, and he is set to graduate with his BSN in May.
The Borough of Montvale, New Jersey is going to recognize Matt this Thursday at 7:30PM as our 2025 Hometown Hero at the regular M&C meeting.
Governor Phil Murphy personally called Matt today and we all spoke about this young man and how we are proud of him.
The young 14 year old boy is still in the hospital and still in critical condition.
