🎳 What a great day on the lanes!

Our CSN crew spent the afternoon bowling at Dream Lanes Madison, cheering each other on, celebrating strikes, and enjoying time together.

ACTION ALERT! The Joint Finance Committee (JFC) is meeting on Tuesday, June 2, to decide whether the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) services should get the extra money it needs to begin helping people with disabilities who are on the DVR waitlist, want to work, and need help getting a job.

The state budget did not set aside enough money to cover the costs of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). There are more than 7,000 people on the DVR waitlist, and it’s estimated that the list will grow to 15,000 by the end of the year without enough state funding.

ACTION STEP BEFORE 9 AM TUESDAY, JUNE 2: Contact the members of the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance and your State Senator and State Assembly Representatives and tell them what it means when people with disabilities and families have to wait for help when they want to work.

Everyone enjoys a little pampering sometimes! We were thrilled to have Gwen from Stardust Nail Lounge at CSN yesterday volunteering her time and skills to give beautiful manicures to our friends. 💅

We had a great visit at CSN from the therapy dogs at Go Team Therapy Dogs Madison 🐾

Lots of smiles, laughs, and time spent just hanging out with the dogs. Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the biggest difference.

The President released his budget proposal last week and it includes the same cuts to disability programs he proposed last year, including eliminating the Administration of Community Living, eliminating the UCEDDs (like Waisman Center at University of Wisconsin-Madison) and other disability programs, and eliminating the independent budget lines that guarantee Developmental Disability Councils (like Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities) and Protection & Advocacy organizations (like Disability Rights Wisconsin) are funded. There is never a wrong time to contact your members of Congress and let them know you are paying attention, and that Congress should pay attention to the disability community and make sure to preserve disability programs.

President Donald Trump wants to stop directing federal funds to the nation's university centers on developmental disabilities, multiple Individuals with Disabilities Education Act programs and much more.

Our crew had a great time making Graham Cracker Banana Sandwiches together. Activities like this build independence, confidence, and a whole lot of joy. And yes, they were as delicious as they look.

We had a wonderful time making this colorful spring collage with Lisa, one of our amazing volunteers. Together we cut, glued, and layered bright, springy magazine images that remind us of the season.
