📣 Calling all Dane County high school students! Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Dane County Youth Governance Program (YGP) through Friday, June 26.

🏛️ Established in 2012, YGP gives high schoolers a real seat at the table in county government. Participants serve alongside elected supervisors on standing committees, are paired with a supervisor mentor, and work together on a project presented to the full county board at the end of the program year.

✅ Who can apply:
Students currently in grades 9–11 (entering grades 10–12 in the fall) who can commit to attending at least 75% of YGP meetings and six to eight hours per month from September through May.

Huge congratulations to the Center for Black Excellence and Culture on their grand opening! It is inspiring to see this vision become a reality on Madison’s south side. This center is a vital investment in the culture, innovation, and leadership of our Black community.

I am proud that Dane County provided funding to support this historic project. This facility is a testament to the power of community-led growth, and I look forward to seeing the lasting impact it will have in Dane County District 4 and beyond!

Extension’s Career Pathways program is offering a variety of engaging summer job opportunities designed to provide young people with valuable work experience, professional development, and community engagement. These positions are ideal for individuals interested in education, government, and recreation.

Through hands-on experience, participants will develop leadership skills while supporting programs that serve the local community. Youth will also learn what it is like to work in a county department.
