Adventure 250 participants are proving there’s no better way to celebrate than by hitting the road and exploring South Dakota state parks! From island trails near Pierre to the hills of Custer State Park, Week 2 adventurers checked in across the state for a chance to win a 6-person tent!

Join us for a weekend of fun at Lake Herman State Park!

At 11:00 am we will be holding a guided nature hike along Herman Pond and around through our native prairie and pollinator plots. Our hike will start at Luce cabin, and the hike will be around 1.5 miles in total.

After lunch, at 1:30, come learn about the American Badger! Join us at the amphitheater between the upper and lower campgrounds to dig-in to the lives of these amazing animals.

Afterwards, join us at 3:00 at picnic shelter 2 for an exciting game of Badger Tag! Learn about the unlikely friendship between badgers and coyotes and how they use their skills to hunt together. After our game, we will be making paper animal masks inspired by these wonderful animals.

Finally, come learn about animal pelts and why they were so important to early pioneers and homesteaders and get some hands on experience with these furs. Meet us at the amphitheater at 6:00 pm
