Caring for yourself matters. 🫂

Caring for a family member can be one of life’s most meaningful responsibilities, but it can also be physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausting.

Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you’re failing. It may be a sign that you need support, rest, or time to care for your own well-being.

Recognizing the signs of caregiver burnout is the first step toward getting the help you deserve. When caregivers take care of themselves, they’re better able to continue caring for those who depend on them.

Explore resources on caregiver stress, burnout, and self-care by visiting www.Caregiver.org or by clicking the link in our bio.

💬 What is one small way you make time to care for yourself? Share your ideas in the comments. Your experience may encourage another caregiver.

💙 💙 Maybe you thought your days of packing backpacks, signing school forms, and helping with homework were behind you.
But life had other plans.
Whether you're raising a grandchild, caring for a relative's child, or providing a stable home during a difficult time, your love and commitment make a lasting difference.
Starting over wasn't part of the plan. But neither was giving up on family.
If this sounds familiar, you may be a caregiver.

💚 Support, resources, and connections are available for grandparents, relatives, and kinship caregivers across Wisconsin.

Today's tornadoes and severe weather across the Fox Valley are a reminder that caregiving doesn't stop during a crisis.

When severe weather, natural disasters, or other unexpected events disrupt daily life, family caregivers often face additional challenges while continuing to care for a loved one.

If a caregiving crisis arises because of storm damage, displacement, injury, or another emergency, the Caregiver Respite Grant Program (CRGP) may be able to provide emergency respite assistance for eligible Wisconsin caregivers.

Emergency respite can help when a caregiver's ability to provide care is unexpectedly disrupted, allowing time to address immediate recovery needs, housing concerns, medical issues, cleanup efforts, or other urgent matters.

Learn more about the Caregiver Respite Grant Program (CRGP) and other caregiver support resources on RCAW's website.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with caregivers, community organizations, emergency response partners, and others who may be supporting Wisconsin families.

When was the last time someone checked in on you?

Family caregiving can be rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally exhausting. If you're struggling with stress, lack of sleep, or feeling like you can't keep up, please know that you're not failing. You're carrying a lot.
Respite care offers a short break so you can take care of yourself, too. Because your health and well-being matter.

You don't have to wait for a crisis to ask for help.

Elder mistreatment isn’t always physical. Fear, anxiety, isolation, withdrawal from activities, and changes in sleep or behavior can be signs of elder mistreatment.
