The Madison County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and community of Martinsville City Sheriff Steve Draper following his passing.

Sheriff Draper dedicated his career to public service and to the citizens he was honored to serve. We join the law enforcement community across the Commonwealth in mourning his loss and recognizing his service and commitment.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Martinsville City Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Draper’s loved ones, and all those whose lives he touched during this difficult time 💙

🚔 Saturation Saturday-August 29th

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for Saturation Saturday, a nationwide effort to prevent impaired driving ahead of Labor Day weekend.

Drivers can expect increased traffic enforcement throughout Madison County as deputies work to identify and remove impaired drivers from our roadways.

If you plan to drink, plan ahead, designate a sober driver, arrange a ride, or stay where you are. Never drive impaired.

Drive sober or get pulled over.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office joins the law enforcement community in mourning the line-of-duty death of Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Burlie W. Duvall III.

Deputy Duvall was tragically killed on August 6, 2026, while assisting at the scene of a motor vehicle accident. His courage, selflessness, and dedication to serving others will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to Deputy Duvall’s family, friends, Sheriff Robert N. Richardson, and the entire Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office. Please keep them, along with all those affected by this tremendous loss, in your thoughts and prayers during the difficult days ahead.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office is proud to congratulate Deputy Jackie Pollard and his K-9 partner Nora on successfully completing their K-9 certification at Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania.

The certification course is known for its demanding and intensive training, requiring countless hours of hard work, discipline, and teamwork. Deputy Pollard and Nora demonstrated exceptional dedication throughout the program and earned certifications in:

-Narcotics Detection
-Tracking
-Article Searches

Nora's specialized skills will enhance our agency's ability to locate illegal narcotics, track suspects or missing persons, and recover critical evidence, making her an invaluable asset to our community.
