On August 28, 2026, at approximately 2:14 a.m., Shorewood Hills police officers responded to a residence in the Village for a report of child abuse in progress. The caller reported that an intoxicated 37-year-old Shorewood Hills woman was physically abusing her children.

Officers contacted the residents and observed apparent injuries to one of the children. Based on the evidence at the scene, the woman was arrested for a probation violation.

Following an extensive investigation, the woman was charged with:

• Three counts of Child Abuse—Intentionally Causing Harm
• Two counts of Causing Mental Harm to a Child
• Felony Bail Jumping

At the time of the incident, the woman was on probation in connection with three counts of Child Abuse—Intentionally Causing Harm and three counts of Neglecting a Child stemming from an October 2023 case in Shorewood Hills.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝗵 this week.

Officer Ash dedicated almost three decades to serving the City of Middleton, from 1987 until his retirement in 2015. Mike spent much of his career working night shift & was especially passionate about traffic safety & OWI enforcement. During his career, he made more than 1,000 OWI arrests, a remarkable reflection of his commitment to keeping our community & our roadways safe.

But there was much more to Mike than the uniform & the statistics. He had a special love for animals, particularly dogs. His service left a lasting mark on our department & our community. We extend our deepest condolences to Mike's family, friends, former colleagues, and all who knew & loved him.

Rest easy, Mike. Thank you for your service, your friendship, and the difference you made. Once a member of our MIPD family, always a member of our MIPD family. You will be deeply missed & never forgotten. 💙

🇺🇸 We Will Never Forget

Today, the Shorewood Hills Police Department joins our community and our nation in honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

We also honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, first responders, military members, and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy.

Twenty-five years later, their sacrifice and courage remain with us.

🚸 CROSSING GUARDS NEEDED 🚸

The Shorewood Hills Police Department is looking for dedicated people to serve as school crossing guards!

Crossing guards work approximately two hours per school day during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Guards are stationed near Shorewood Hills Elementary School at:

• Shorewood Boulevard/Topping Road/Harvard Drive
• Oxford Road/Bowdoin Road

Pay is $20 per hour.

This is a rewarding opportunity that may be a great fit for a retiree, stay-at-home parent, student, or anyone with a flexible schedule.

We are grateful to receive a $21,520 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to support our emergency response efforts. This funding will be used to purchase 10 ZOLL AED 3 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), 3 AED cabinets and essential accessories helping ensure our department is better equipped to serve the Shorewood Hills community.
