Big things are happening behind the scenes at Grow Our Village! šŸŒ±šŸ’›

Over the past several months, we’ve been doing some really powerful work to help create meaningful, lasting change for new and expecting families—not just within our community, but at the local and state level.

Until now, Grow Our Village has been almost entirely self-funded, with the exception of the incredible community support we received through our Parents Day fundraiser. We’re currently working toward obtaining our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, but the need for accessible education, resources, and support for new parents isn’t waiting—and neither are we.

If you believe in the work we’re doing, here are a few ways you can help us keep growing:

🌱 Make a donation. Every contribution, big or small, helps us continue offering no-cost workshops, support groups, and resources to local families. Visit GrowOurVillage.com to contribute or reach out to donate directly.

šŸŽ Shop with purpose. Purchase one of our curated gift boxes for an upcoming baby shower or new parent. Your purchase helps fund programs that support other families in our community.

šŸ“£ Help us spread the word! Share our posts, tell an expecting parent about our services, refer a family, or introduce us to someone who might want to collaborate. Awareness is one of the biggest ways you can help us expand our impact.

šŸ—³ļø And please, vote on November 3rd. Take time to learn about the candidates and issues that impact families in our communities, and make your voice heard.

Building a village takes a village. And real, sustainable change happens when people come together with a shared commitment to doing better for families.

To everyone who has supported us, collaborated with us, donated, attended a workshop, or simply shared our mission with someone else—thank you. You are helping build something that matters.

We’re dreaming big, doing the work, and creating the kind of support we believe every family deserves.

Help us grow our village. šŸ’›

This is one of those workshops you could attend five times and still walk away with something new and valuable each time. ā¤ļø

We’re so excited to offer this workshop in collaboration with Emily Tester, a registered play therapist who also specializes in child-caregiver attachment, and Kendall Hampton, founder of Kendall | Pediatric Sleep Consultant & Developmental Specialist, who is not only a pediatric sleep consultant but also a developmental specialist.

These two together are an absolute powerhouse of practical, helpful information for anyone caring for little ones ages 0–5.

Please RSVP—and bring your whole village. Grandparents, partners, aunties, uncles, friends… anyone helping love and raise your little one is welcome.

And please don’t let childcare be the reason you miss out. We’ll have a play area available, so even if an auntie, partner, or other support person comes along to hang out with your kiddo just down the hall while you participate, we want to make it easier for you to be there.

Come learn, ask questions, and leave with tools you can actually use at home. ā¤ļøšŸŒ±

In these days of being hyper-connected, we hope our village can understand why our favorite and fastest way to communicate is by text.

I’m a working therapist, and I try to make the most of my limited time in the office by seeing clients directly. Because of that, we’re not currently able to offer regular office hours.

Also, our business phone receives at least 10 spam calls a day, so I’ve adopted the highly sophisticated screening process of simply not answering it. šŸ˜… I do listen to voicemails, though, and I promise to return calls from real human beings!

But the absolute best way to reach us and receive information quickly is by text. I can respond between clients or whenever I have a break - and instead of either of us having to remember or write down important details, everything is right there at your fingertips.

So please, text away! It’s not impersonal - it’s efficient, accessible, and the best way for me to stay connected with our village while juggling all the hats.

This is deplorable. We must do better. Awareness is the first step, then advocacy and taking action.

Awareness is the first step, then advocacy and taking action.

An ACLU of Alabama report found Black women in Alabama are three times more likely to die from pregnancy complications, citing health care access gaps, hospital closures and maternity care deserts. Read more in comments.
